Half Moon Bay or rather El Granada is home to a General Store. They have hardware, coffee, sandwiches, ice cream, you name it. The post office is across the street.

El Granda Fire Station

Highway 1, leaving Montara and going north toward Devils Slide.

Highway one going south. There's never much traffic here.

Año Nuevo Island is in the background just offshore. There's an abandoned lifeboat station on the island. Lots of seals and birds.

Pelicans are amazing birds

I don't need to do the big cookout on the Fourth - I can do that any other day. We went out to Point Reyes and the fog was wild. The mix of bright sunlight and fog gives rise to a fairly rare phenomenon called a fogbow. A fogbow looks like a white rainbow. This phenomenon can also occur in moonlight and then it's called a moonbow. The best places to see fogbows and moonbows are along the foggy coast or in foggy mountains. I see a fogbow maybe every 5 years or so and I am out all the time so they are rare.

The Chimney Rock Lifeboat Station near Drakes Beach was built in 1927 and went into service in 1931. I have never before seen it decorated with a fogbow.

This guy passed everyone waiting to turn left, coming up the right side then cutting the line off. That's really dangerous for the people legitimately waiting their turn. Odd name for a co. as well.

I went to the beach over the holiday, well sorta. Osage Beach/Ozarks that is. Extremely green compared to Kansas,. mostly friendlier, a tad cheaper and everyone. Boats, jet ski, etc everywhere! Had a weird smell as it's a dispensary state 🚬, but I came to eat as that's my best talent aside from being a non official spokesman for Redline Oil and Honda Motor Co. Definitely the "Show Me State", somehow got a truck above a sign. We had to turn around and go back as a double take. Fireworks are legal and sold all year round, but most isn't legal in Kansas so we just looked, made the standard pit stop, bought fuel in OakGrove at QT and journeyed onward.
