A few more of yesterday's pictures from the Point Reyes Peninsula.

Driving out onto the peninsula

Driving toward the Doas Guard station near Chimney Rock

Looking down at a ranch at a bay with the marine layer coming in

Drakes Bay in the background

The park ranger's house near the Coast Giard Station

There's a commemorative plaque in honor of Sir Francis Drake who landed here and made contact with the natives in 1597. He named the area New Albion because the white cliffs reminded him of Dover.

The Coast Guard Station is a boathouse. It was built in 1927 and went into service in 1931.

The peninsula is home to elk populations

A nice view of South Beach from near the lighthouse

Toward the lighthouse. We didn't go to the lighthouse this time.

A popular and windy viewpoint

Near beaches where elephant seals breed you will see signs like this one.
