#1 is bull unless you are using 40 year old oil in a 60s car. Plus you didn't learn that here.

All the rest are good points.

I mentioned #1 because I do have older vehicles, have always done the 3K oil change and have had great success with it! I refuse to purchase new vehicles, as I don't want to invest the money and take the monetary hit. The last vehicle I sold had almost 200K on the engine, bought at 80K w/3000 mile oil changes. The engine still had great compression and ran like a top. Am I maybe going too far, maybe stretch the changes out to 4 or 5K? Perhaps so, but I'm too old to change my habits now!!!!!!!
I did not learn this 3K thing here..I only learned what I was doing seems to work, so why change it?
Thanks for all the replies.

Do what you want bud, but don't say you learned that here.

Most informed BITOG contributors know the 3k oil change myth died a long time ago.

The only thing keeping it alive are lube places and old yellar's that are too set in their ways to listen to reason.

****, my truck is 11 years old and in the manual it states I can go over 7000miles on an oil change with little or no problems.
