If any of you guys remember the Ford LTD commercials from that time that claimed the LTD was quieter riding than a RR Silver Shadow, you'll notice that this SNL skit was a spoof of those commercials.
I remember both the commercial and the skit. The commercial was a jeweler being able to properly cleave a rough diamond in the back seat while driving over rough roads because the car's ride was so smooth. The skit was a spoof of this commercial.
Neighbors wife still bumps to work in one of those beasts. Thing about that old iron is they can lose 2 cyl's and keep running on 6 for years. Lose compression on just 1 on a 4 cyl or v6 and they run so bad you can't drive em.

That Grenada commercial capitalized on a real story where a policeman mistook the car for a Mercedes when he was writing up a parking ticket. Considering the sophistication of some policemen, it didn't shock me.
