They need to stop with these black editions

I don’t like the “black edition” on any car. It just looks cheap and tacky.
Yet many of those vehicles are pretty expensive 🤷‍♂️

Also of note, often times these packages actually cost more.
- The black appearance package was a $300 option on my wife's truck.
- The black wheels were a $995 option on my SRT.

On current BMW's, because of the size of the grilles, I find the black mutes the front enough that it significantly improves the appearance:

Works pretty good on those, although the black plastic is shiney. The black editions kind of remind me of the old mono colour days of the mid late 2000's Mazda6's or Dodge Chargers for example. Those cars didn't age well, and some how look cheap if not in showroom condition. I think these BMW's with 6 years of road damage and 2 weeks of road grime on them, won't look too special anymore either.... Body colour grills are tricky to get right IMO

Yeah, definitely ages better on some vehicles than others. I thought Ford did a really good job with our old Expedition (vehicle was 8 years old here):

I was driving through a “new money” subdivision the other day - big numbers of MB, BMW, Caddy, and GMC Denali, etc - were black - however the black wheel thing was not so prevalent …

About the only "Black" edition worth it's looks is the Lincolin Natilus.
Black is a stupid color to "upgrade" cause black HIDES imperfections, and it difficult to keep clean.

I think black edition works great on some vehicles like it did on my 21 Tahoe RST in all black. I don’t even need all black I just hate chrome. Chrome door handles and chrome trim around windows and along the body- yuck.
To each their own, I do see the blacked out phase trending out in a few years too.
