That's what all the kids were doing a decade ago. Flat black wheels just aren't a good look.... And once it starts chipping off (it ALWAYS does) it just looks worse...... and spray painted the wheels
Yet many of those vehicles are pretty expensiveI don’t like the “black edition” on any car. It just looks cheap and tacky.
Works pretty good on those, although the black plastic is shiney. The black editions kind of remind me of the old mono colour days of the mid late 2000's Mazda6's or Dodge Chargers for example. Those cars didn't age well, and some how look cheap if not in showroom condition. I think these BMW's with 6 years of road damage and 2 weeks of road grime on them, won't look too special anymore either.... Body colour grills are tricky to get right IMOYet many of those vehicles are pretty expensive
Also of note, often times these packages actually cost more.
- The black appearance package was a $300 option on my wife's truck.
- The black wheels were a $995 option on my SRT.
On current BMW's, because of the size of the grilles, I find the black mutes the front enough that it significantly improves the appearance:

Yeah, definitely ages better on some vehicles than others. I thought Ford did a really good job with our old Expedition (vehicle was 8 years old here):Works pretty good on those, although the black plastic is shiney. I am the biggest offender in that department, lol. I never dress my tires, I don't like the look.Don't care for the black rims as most people never dress the tires, this detracts from the looks.

We stayed with white paint again - but went to black leather …I like black but it's a PITA to keep clean. I'm going with white next car.
That looks good.I'm "Old Skool" like either chrome or polished.

I wish they still made that Buick. It was a fun car and they could have done other things with it.I'm "Old Skool" like either chrome or polished.

I bet you saw @AutoMechanic there.I was driving through a “new money” subdivision the other day - big numbers of MB, BMW, Caddy, and GMC Denali, etc - were black - however the black wheel thing was not so prevalent …
