Apparently this video on YouTube has been getting a lot of attention regarding 0w20 vs 5w30. LSJR is supposed to do a video on Friday going over what is and isn't true. If anyone hasn't see it, it basically says that 5w30 is far superior for wear and an engine lasting and 0w20 is all about fuel economy and the government.

[edit - AI generated video removed, as it adds no value to this website. You can find it on Youtube "The TRUTH About 0w20 vs 5w30 Oil (50 Engines Tested!)" if you must.

So it's basically just reinforcing and confirming what everyone already knows. Gotta get those clicks and likes!

Yeah, it’s not a bad video other than listening to Mr 🆒’s voice …
I thought it was pretty terrible actually. It reduces a complex spectrum of outcomes down to a binary good/bad. According to the video, it doesn't matter WHICH 0w-20 or 5w-30 you compare? It doesn't matter which vehicle or how it's used? 0w-20 Mobil 1 Truck and SUV is inferior to Grp I/II valvoline daily protection 5w-30? Really?

I know people like to bag on LSJr, but his catch phrase of "application dictates chemistry" is tough to dispute.

I'd take Valvoline Restore and Protect 0w-20 over every blend of 5w30 conventional on earth regardless who made it. And I'm a certified Thickie™.

Pick what you like - they stressed the use of synthetic lubes several times
A dozen passed the camera that are good enough for what I own …
The exaggeration on this site is reaching new heights - much of it is “look at me” and what I know …

quite unfortunate he had to mention Scotty Kilmer…
Some will agree with the one thing said about SK - this leads to the old debate here of using something different than the OEM recommendation
That never stops anyone here - and some wait until warranty is up

Fair enough. I personally find other products to be better for what I want out of a lube than OEM, warranty or not. Just my .002
