The Real Reason Why Music Is Getting Worse

We have a lot of musicians in my family. I play the drums (for fun). It's sad to see music continually get dumbed down.

Rick Beato is on point.

One kid in the house likes K-pop. I hate to criticize art, but I can't' stand it, and I like a very wide scope of music. It's such a copy/paste hodge podge of garbage.

I don't know but I was able to use AI to generate a full length country song about furries in Cybertrucks in about 30 seconds completely for free and it was absolutely hilarious.

Does that make me a musician? Not at all. But the world certainly is changing.

I'm trying to explain this to a 14 year old in the house in a very subtle, non-offensive way. We watched a series called "K Everything" on HBO max over the weekend. Well the first episode was K-Pop. It's everything I thought it was and all the reasons I don't like it. Very Korean take on music - copy from western artists, make it a product, use artists as marketing tools. They also have to adhere to an image and some even go to train for it. That is not what music is about to me at all. To each their own. Everything they're producing is borrowed/copied from the west. Nothing original at all to me musically and it's done in a cheating type way using tech.

My wife got into American Idol so I was half watching it last night. Luke Bryan cracks me up. Seems like a nice guy and seems self-aware of his talent. He had a successful song with Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day. He has a new song that he "sang" last night. Fish, Hunt, Golf, Drink. Should be another hit for him. He can shrug his shoulders and wonder why on his way to the bank to cash another big check.

Beato is an actual musician though and plays an instrument like Mozart.

Plenty of musicians that were disparaged.

Taylor Swift is also a musician and plays the ukelele like John Lennon.

The Beatles were seen as a hippy and rebellious.

Sex Pistols. They must be promoting sex with a name like that.

Alice Cooper and his goth-death-cult look.

Nirvana was extremely down talked before Nevermind was released.

Elvis's songs were seen as sexual.

I remember reading history books and watching archived news on how rock-n-roll was the devil's music.

Yes there's favoritism in the industry. A group like BTS is most definitely all marketing. Dolly Parton was nothing but glam and marketing but that great side is you and I don't have to listen to them and we can switch songs. Right now I went from Zed's Dead to Roy Orbison.

Music style, tastes change with the times, as does tech that comes along with it. Now we're in a weird phase where more of the musical creativity is being done by non-humans.

Take a band like Rush. They created their own music using instruments, some of it rather complex for the genre. These K-pop artists are sitting behind a computer making music.

Pop music has always had a formulaic approach to reach the masses. That goes for the west too.

That bit is actually true and is true now for all pop music. If you watch any of the music award performances, Olympic openings, etc. it’s all black mass type satanic/baal/molloch warship type stuff.

Some people are in it only because they have a singing voice. Some people are in it because they can make a beat really well.
Some people are in it because they're only good for sex appeal. Some people are in it because they can do it all really well.

There's an entire genre of music based off computers...aptly called electronic music. Darude - Sandstorm is probably the most recognizable song in the world today and there's not a lick of lyrics or instruments in it.

Restore your faith in music... Listen to some old Fleetwood Mac while driving with the windows down and it will return you to center.

I have little use for any new music unless it's from one of my favorite vocalists or groups.

In the past year or so, the song Walk My Walk went to # 1 on Billboard's country chart. It's 100% AI-generated and for a period of time, no one knew who "created" it. Looks like it's known now though. Want to repeat one part too - it went to # 1 on Billboard's (digital, i.e. streaming) country music chart.
Yup and apparently the lyrics come from very few sources, that would explain why they’re all pretty much the same
This is very, very common with country music and "pop" music.

Everyone needs a hobby I guess. :0

Watch silly youboob stuff and supposedly the entirety of typical America churches align with Baal.

Anytime a cray cra says the above I’m reminded that worship requires belief, hard to be unaware without belief and also be worshipping a dietet you don’t even know of.

Though Baal worship is supposedly aligned with worshipping the successful , powerful and materialism.
That’s a wide enough net to ensnare half the country easily, including many who don’t care about music or Hollywood.

I think the lack of music classes being made available in the schools where kids are being groomed at a young age into great musicians.
Yep gotta spend 80-90% of the school budget on afterschool and many million $$$ municipal sports complexes instead.

Play the CW record backwards. The hole in the roof got fixed, the pickup isn't broken, the dog didn't die and the wife didn't leave.

All the modern radio country music sounds alike to me. They have a formula that they use on every song. I like the older soulful country music. There is some Orlando music festival on Prime. It's just shouting to a beat. No creativity any more.
