Umm, what? My inspection is up in May, not June. Don't know how Maine is; but they crack down on expired inspections in PA.

IIRC in Maine inspection is 12 months, and not tied to birth date at all. Buy a car, get it inspected, and the next inspection is due 12 months from now.
Thus, if one wanted to, you could count on any sort of leniency if caught... otherwise, get it inspected late, and every 13 months, and maybe eek out a bit of cost savings over time. [That was my thought as a teenager, but didn't live in Maine long enough for that to work!]
Kinda irked me that NH was different--has irked me a time or two when I had to take in a vehicle that I owned for just 3 or so months for inspection, despite being inspected at time of sale. Only because the birthdate of the registrant was up!
