The Official BITOG Cheapskate Thread

I just removed the non-listed phone number off my phone service to save a dollar a month.

I see you're also so cheap that you resurrect old cheapskate threads rather than start a new one.

Due to the high cost of toilet paper and stationary, when I get asked, "Paper or plastic?" I always ask for paper.

I guess the year of high stress that caused your IOP to go up also "toughened" you up so brown paper is OK...

Wow... must have been a tough year. Just another mystery that everyone will have to wonder about, I guess...

Interesting that you follow my posts so closely that you remember my comment regarding one very stressful year. I mentioned this within the context of IOP -- beyond that this "mystery" is not anybody's business.

What other "mysteries" are there? Maybe I can clear them up for you.

You are the International Man of Mystery!

The glaucoma thread was the one I looked at right before this... can't help that I remember things for about a minute.

To add:

I called my cellular provider. Was paying $120/month, plus had a $300 bill when I was three provinces away.

Called rogers, last bill got dinged down to $100 (below my monthly usual), and my new monthly premium is about $65, for alot more minutes and such. Did I mention the sixty-five was taxes and connection fees included?

My family plan has 5 lines (AT&T) and unlimited night and weekend, mobile to mobile, roll over minutes, etc, on the lowest cost plan that give us a total of $108 after tax for all 5 lines. Also you can call them to block all internet access and text messages so that your kids can't abuse them and you get charged. $21.6 per line isn't bad.

Check my post in the cell phone thread.

We buy most of our food at Aldi's

I use ST filters or any non orange box ones on sale.

I am still driving my 77 Chevy LUV. Anybody remember my hero, Jack Benny and his Maxwell?

All my clothes come from Penney's where my wife gets a employee discount.

I run Linux. I don't think I paid for any software in 20 years.

I shovel my driveway.

I drink Carlo Rossi Sangria.

I do all my own work on my car and house. I may be buying struts for my 02 Cavalier from Rock Auto.

I do splurge on YB Pennzoil.

Vonage is my phone company.

I am still using my 1973 GE Electrak lawnmower.

I buy tools at Harbor Freight.

I do my own taxes.

I carry my lunch to work in a plastic Wal-Mart shopping bag and I re-use the bags. I never buy paper sacks.

I wear my 2 week contact lenses for at least a month.

I make my three week haircut last two months by touching up with a small scissors once a week after about a month.

I don't have cable TV.

My lounge-around t-shirts are the ones I get for free when I give blood.

I cast my own bullets from wheel weights

My VW TDI averages 46mpg

I have an 11 year old Toyota van and an 18 year old Volvo that are our primary drivers

I have a wife who is cheaper than me!

Sign up for all the restaurants to be a member online. Yesterday was my wife's birthday. She got a Free new Hollywood video release and must be a primary card member, free Scoop of ice cream at Baskin Robbins, and a free burger/fries deal at Red Robin.
