The new vehicles that just lock up.

Could you use car wash mode? It's meant for those weird drive-thru car washes that pull your car along by the tire, but is that any different from trying to put a vehicle on/off the tow truck? Do non-EV GMs have the same thing?

To activate car wash mode on a Chevy Bolt, you need to follow these steps:
  1. Open the door while pressing the brake, then shift to N (Neutral).
  2. The indicator should now show N. If it does not, select N (Neutral) again.
  3. Shift into P (Park) upon arrival at the car wash.
  4. Drive to the entrance of the car wash.
  5. Apply the brake pedal.
  6. Shift to N (Neutral).
  7. Turn off the vehicle and release the brake pedal.
  8. The indicator should continue to show N. If it does not, repeat steps 2–4.
  9. The vehicle is now ready for the car wash.

I have never seen so many dollies used here in SC vs. anywhere else I resided, thought it was just standard practice here.

I'd guess that this issue is the result of a gov't requirement, intended to prevent cars from rolling away if they jump out of park.

even IF i had the $$$$ i would NEVER buy a newer vehicle!!! too much tech IMO!!
Might not have a choice. In 10 years. Say your currant car is wrecked and you need to buy a replacement you may have to buy something newer.

Also some states are trying to outlaw gas powered cars in 10 or so years .

I am hanging onto my 2002 Jeep as long as possible.. It has enough technology to run well and still be easy to diagnose. its also a manual so a couple guys can push it out of an intersection if it dies

Prius is really bad about this, basically no easy way to get it into neutral unless you have a key and working electronics.

Placing a vehicle in neutral usually involves popping off the shift selector or getting under the vehicle and manually moving a lever of some sort.
Your right when talking the NON ELECTRONIC DAYS OF CARS, everything in a now automatic transmission uses electrics for ALL functions.
Then of course the parking brake is ELECTRONIC NOW, so with out a nice charged battery and good unburnt wiring to send that voltage and current to all those fancy gadgets, that vehicle is a dead whale, that needs a bulldozer to move it. 🤣 :ROFLMAO:

The shifters use drive-by-wire so it's an electronic signal sent to the transmission rather than physically modulating a lever. The problem is perhaps more simple. Tow drivers are unable to keep up with all of the methods used to place these transmissions into neutral and/or they don't want to get blamed for "damaging" the interior of the car so they just use dollies. I don't blame them.

It'd be helpful to post the Youtube video since most of us have no idea what you're referencing.
Sure ! It seems everytime I do that it gets deleted because a bad word was said in it. And since I just skim through some of the long video's I didn't dare post it here.
