The most reliable car I have ever owned was my.......

I'd have to say my 2000 Jeep Cherokee. I bought it with 95000 miles and it has 214500 on it now. I don't drive it much any more because it's a trail vehicle, but if I put on an exhaust system and a decent set of tires, I'd hop in it right now and drive to California with it worry free!

Now this I can also agree on with the van. I also have a 94 Ford e150 it’s my summer only baby. Found it 3 years ago with 19,800 miles on it!! Couldn’t believe it but after much research and crawling all over the thing it’s mint. 35,800 on it right now so I can’t say much about the longevity of it but it’s been reliable on many trips for 3 years now.
what engine/trans does yours have?? Mine is the 5.8l with E4od and 8.8 rear end 3.55 gearing.
Wow super low mileage. I have 5.8 and E40D transmission. 137,000 on the clock of mine.

Hot after you turned it off?? That baby had to be hot before you turned it off as well.what ended up being the problem if it wasn’t the head gasket?
The guage wouldn’t move from normal until after it was shut off which was really weird. When we took everything apart to put in the head gasket you could see that the block was warped so what I think is we had a faulty one from the factory and it didn’t show up until after awhile when the problem happened.

Never really had a bad car, the Jetta left us stranded a few times with the faulty neutral/park safety switch really the only thing of note.

The best one has got to be the 1991 S-10 blazer I had. I know when I gave it to my buddy it had 280,000 miles on it and he drove it to 410,000.
4.3 TBI, not enough power to really break anything. I did brakes, an intake gasket and some suspension odds and ends, but it was always reliable.

1984 Mazda GLC Sport...great little car....went 200k+ miles and then the body started falling apart. Only things I did was oil, coolant and brake fluid and pad changes...still had original shocks, clutch, etc.

'86 Chevy ( Corolla ) Nova hatchback with 1.6 ltr. and 3 speed auto that had 260,000+ miles . Was told by transmission specialist that the 3 speed auto was from Mazda .

1974 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J 400/400 combo, regretfully traded in for my 83 Silverado which is still my DD. (y)

'88 Ford Escort Pony. Bought used in '93 with 146K miles for $500, finally retired it in '11 or '12 with 518K miles and was still moving under it's own power. Mainly just regular oil/filter changes and replacing worn parts.

2010 Mazda 3 Grand Touring (2.5L MZR and 6 speed MT). Outside a HVAC blend servo that went bad under warranty never had a single issue in +80k mi.

Back in 1989 I bought a 1984 Chevy Camaro Berlinetta with a carburetor V8. Brown (but officially dark gold) with T-tops and skinny little 205 tires on it. But it did have a limited slip diff, so believe it or not, it went through snow like nothing else. And, it was pretty reliable. The only major things I did were new 235 60 R14 tires and a new charcoal canister because I destroyed the original with my over filling the gas habit back then. 🙄. Rust, and my college student poverty forced it out of my hands. It’s probably been recycled a couple of times since then (1993).

My second most reliable was the 1987 Plymouth Gran Fury Police I got for $900. Former Wisconsin State Patrol car, the paint was so far gone it wasn’t a paint job any longer, but hinted at “blue”. But a solid, cheap car to fix. I replaced u joints, tires, brakes (huge, giant drums and rotors even back then), and had the stainless steel exhaust welded back up for $65. My mom took it over for two more years before she traded it for her 94 Silverado. I heard the old Plymouth blew up the engine in the dealer’s trade lot. They weren’t too pleased 😜

89 Caprice with 332k miles on the original engine. Never once broke down and it started at -32c without any trouble. I put 42k miles on it over 2 winters.
Edit: if trucks are included then my 2005 Silverado. 200k miles, 8700 engine hours. Only towed once when a wheel bearing sounded like it was going to fall right out. I purchased it from my boss this past spring but it's been in our work fleet since 2011.

Wow now that’s not a good situation at all with the gauge.
