The recall covers Jeep Compass, Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs from the 2022 and 2023 model years. Also included are Ram ProMaster vans from 2022 and 2023, as well as the Ram 3500 chassis cabs and Ram 1500 and 2500 pickups from 2022. Also covered are 2021 through 2023 Chrysler Pacifica minivans and Jeep Grand Cherokee L SUVs, and 2021 and 2022 Dodge Durango SUVs.
A company investigation found that the vehicles have radio software that can inadvertently shut down the cameras.
Stellantis said it can remedy the problem with an online software update on the vehicles’ media screens, and owners can accept that update on the screens. They will also be notified of the recall via mail.

My Ford has a glitchy reversing camera "switch" something the radio head unit goes blank until after a K0/K1 sequence or two.
Also, the radio power hardware knob is soft control - the OFF button sometimes does not work when the system is uploading to a SAT or for some other unknown reason.
Then my Ford service writer is a classic - deflects all problems and blames me. LOL. I even presented a hard transmission glitch with limp mode for a couple key cycles. and a BIG notice on the DIC - Have Vehicle Serviced Immediately - Read owner's manual. Guy at the desk said tech found no stored codes (yeah, right buddy didn't even scan it did you) and "You are never suppose to shift between S and D
". Absolute nonsense!

I didn't get into it there. It has got a year or two PT warranty. Let it scatter parts. Poor li'l car - another possible death by dealer negligence again; Failure to provide proper remedy under warranty.

My work transit connect van was brought in for a climate control recall ford reprogrammed the body control module but didn’t fix anything. our fleet mechanic said the problem is a relay on the AC compressor responsible for heat coming from the ducts when AC is on.

OTA updates are common. This one is called a recall. No one complains when Microsoft sends their OS updates monthly. As cars get more complicated and computerized my fearless prediction is that these OTA updates will continue.

And I think manufacturers will be more cavalier about shoving products into the marketplace. "If it's an issue we can just update OTA."

Just say a new probe on some jeeps that a fire may start after engine is turned off...The are 21 to 23 Wranglers and Gladiators..

A friend's neighbor with a new Grand Cherokee Hybrid had an engine would not turn off experience. 5 pm on a Sunday 2 weeks ago.
She called Jeep, they had no answer after getting bounced around on the phone, vehicle rural out of state at a weekend place with nearest dealer 60 miles away. Said they possibly could help on Monday then they would have an answer, What the Heck let it run all night?
They sent a tow truck; driver disconnected the engine ECU to shut it off as he wasn't towing it while running.
She got it back the next day, no answer as to how / why from her as I didn't' talk to her afterwards.
She is not that dumb, and she can really ride a snowmobile which for me a somewhat a savvy qualifier as a vehicle operator.
Let's see if this is a one off or pending issue.

If you really know how to drive you don't need cameras

disagree...

In Iowa if you rear-end someone you are at fault (PERIOD). If you are sitting at a stop light, and the light goes green, and you give them a polite honk to get moving because they are on their phone, so they throw it in reverse...and POW, you rear-ended them. Your word against theirs...need a camera to prove otherwise. Funny...I was threatened with exactly this years ago on this forum when I said I would beep at someone who was clearly on their phone at a stop light.

Drivehard,

Even though you have valid points, I don’t think it was what 10W was implying in. If anything, vehicle should come standard with either a 360 degree recording device or standardized location for aftermarket plug-in-play as that is more important than most features out there. Apple CarPlay or Android Auto (name?) head unit and blindspot sensor are very important safety features though but blind spot sensor should be a backup aid instead of an alternative to physically checking.
