That's quite a range. Your mean temp is about 38F. Where do you live?

Where were you in 107f?
We went to Shoshone,ca which is in death valley. It was 127F. My jeep was running pretty warm that day.
My vehicles also have an outside temerature reading on the dashboard. The lowest I've ever been is -13F, and highest would have been in the high 90's. I just use 5W-30 full synthetic all year round. It works great in all temperatures.
What brand and viscosity oil do you use for those extreme temperatures?
Also, what vehicle is that, I didn't see any vehicles listed in your signature or mentioned in the post?

Not in Maine, unless you park your car for several hours on blacktop during an exceptionally hot day.

It was 97F last week here, and the van was in direct sun.
Back in the day in the Adirondack High Peaks my dad's VW bus wouldn't even turn over one morning with the temperature down around 38 below F or so. Actually, we didn't know exactly how cold it was because all the mercury in our thermometer had dropped into the bowl at the bottom and it only read to 30 below. Saranac Lake was reporting 38 below, and we were at higher elevation in the mountains. I wouldn't be suprised if it was 40 below. We put a small camp stove under the oil pan and heated the oil for 30 minutes or so to get the engine to turn over. This was back in the early 70s and I have no idea what oil was in there. Since the advent of synthetics winter starts have improved tremendously.
Back in the '80's had a friend come up to the ADK to go snowmobiling. Morning he was going home it was -35f. Had to aim a torpedo heater at the front of his VW GTI for a while to get it to fire up since we had no garage to put it in. Crank but no fire.

I still carry a trunkload of winter gear when traveling in the Adirondacks in the winter, including snow shoes. Back in the day before cell service you might have to save yourself if the car broke down in the winter, and there are still significant cell dead spots. Hamilton County, New York, is the least densely populated county east of the Mississippi. Around 5K residents.
