The continuation of being dumped on in Restaurants needs to end.

IHOP has really taken a nosedive into the bucket of :poop:. Last time I went there, cold food, took forever to get there, one couple left because they didn't get served, and on top of everything, my order was wrong. IHOP used to be the go-to place. Now, not so much. I see from earlier postings, I'm not alone location-wise.
 
A lot of restaurant workers had two jobs. With things starting to open back up they will drop one. Usually the restaurant job is the one that gets dropped.

Prices are going up like everything. Two years ago I could get a omelette breakfast for $9.99 at the place we frequent. Now it’s over $14.

Finally someone besides myself that realizes they are being cheated. Maybe not intentionally but it still hurts.

The Waffle House in Russellville is a good one. Long drive for me to get a good Waffle.
 
All of the IHOPs near me have closed. They are owned by or licensed by Dine Brands. Here is the information on their CEO. They bought Applebees out a few years ago, and it has been down hill since. This is an industry (Big Chain Dining) that really seems to have not recovered from the pandemic. I agree with the earlier comments on local owned anything. I have 1 Asian and 1 Mexican place by me that seem to do great. Staff is always friendly, food is good, and prices are reasonable. The Asian place even remembers my name and my favorite orders on a regular basis.

That is about the rate of increase around here. 40-50% increases are common. No longer will I accept crap. and not say something. My grace period has expired. We would all be a lot better off if more people would speak up.
 
My wife and I eat out at a few places. The service is usually good to mediocre. But I must give a shout out to the Prime Rib restaurant at Live! casino in Philly. We've been there twice and the service is shockingly good. I can't tell if it's just good service and since other restaurants are so bad that it seems exceptional but no matter, it's great. We've talked to others and they had the same experience. They are awesome and work as a great team. Prices are a little high, there but at least you get great food and service. Both times I've asked for the manager to compliment him on his staff. We will definitely complain about poor service or food but you need to also compliment good food and service in today's world. Negative reinforcement doesn't seem to help but maybe positive reinforcement will keep the good ones going.

The Asian restaurant we always go to always sits us in my gf's favorite booth, has her favorite sweeteners and extra glass of ice waiting for her on the table before we even sit down. The restaurant owner always comes to the table to greet us during our meal with a fresh slice of cheesecake for the both of us (y)

The french fries were cold, nasty unblanched "Natural Fries" (curse you 5 Guys). The waitress replaced my cold fries with another baskets of barely warm fries. Still not happy I asked her to replace my fries with some beans which were hot and tasty. Didn't order beans at first being in mixed company. Used the bean juice to warm up my burnt ends. My bill was $18 and I gave a $5 tip just because someone cared just a little. I think she yelled at the kitchen crew after the second basket of cold fries.

And I hate to say our favorite local chain (4 locations) sit down place for comfort food is starting to slip. I received refrigerator cold mashed potatoes along with my Open face Tenderloin which was fine and assuming it used the same gravy, even hot gravy was no match for the refrigerator cold potatoes.

Honestly the best meal this month was at Wendy's. Around here they usually quite good. The secret, hot and properly prepared. Even my $1 Sausage and Egg Biscuit at McDonald this morning was wonderful along with 2 sausage biscuits and a unsweetened Ice tea. Again hot and properly prepared The 2 sausage biscuits are to make Biscuits and Gravy tomorrow or Tuesday. .

After last evening we made a pact to not pay for crappy food anymore. This aggravates us to no end. And I know she is not above making a scene. She lives on Social Security and I strive to make ends meet on it and not dive into saving for eating out.

This happens so often, I am thinking of making printed business size cards explaining why I am disappointed. Hand it to the server and ask that it be delivered to the manager or owner.

I tried Culver's for the first time today, It was decent but they forgot a burger and fries. But wasn't charged for it.
Tried Paul's Drive in the other day and it was good.(tenderloin/burger/fries/sweet tea). We go to Joe's in Leawood for bbq, Always good.

You should come here if you like Mexican food. They sell it from their garages,tents and even trailers on every corner.

The folks in my neighborhood call the closest paved corner "The food court".

We are sick of Mexican food!

We keep hoping for a bbq guy to roll up at the food court or a hotdog guy..... anything but Mexican food!

+1 on Joe's in Leawood. The Olathe location is good also but always so busy. Trader Joe's and Joe's within shouting distance from each other. We like Jack Stack, Smoke Stack, and Joe's. Gave up on Zarda's, the brisket is always dry and stringy. Where is Paul's?

Culvers is our dessert stop many evenings. Turtle sundae is always good.

I freeze the waffles 1 make just like Eggo's . I make a whole batch on the first rainy nastly fall day. Comfort cooking.
 
I travel quite a bit with my work and have made a habit of trying to find Farm to table restaurants or simply restaurants that serve menu items such as grass-fed/finished beef and other foods of high quality. Two chains I ate at recently were Smashburger in upstate New York and Farmburger in Atlanta, both had exceptional quality food in my fairest of opinions.

None of the restaurants around here that "closed permanently" due to the "recent thing" were Mexican restaurants. And of those that "closed permanently", most of them became Mexican restaurants.

I seriously wonder how many Mexican restaurants this area can support.
