The Beast floor jack

I have posted before about my need for a 3 ton floor jack and was considering the HF one on sale or maybe the red one at Sams. I was on the fence. And seeing a shear pin back out on a HF jack stand did not help my decision.

So last week I found a Matco "Beast" floor jack on CL and got it for $120. I believe its 3.5 ton. It also weighs 125 lbs.

I am glad I spent the extra money and am sure I can get any needed parts for a long long time.

Milwaukee. There are mechanic shops that swear using the same Milwaukee jack for over 30 years..

The beast needs a cleaning and some new hydraulic fluid and she'll be good to go for another 20 years.

Does anyone "change" jack oil or just add some when needed?

Does it really need to be clean to lift my Bobcat?

I bought a 5" rubber pad for the jack just to have it.

Some people change it. Others don't bother I would do it in yours to see the condition of the hydraulic oil.

I've changed the oil on my cheap jack. I was a bit of a pain to do.
I will change the oil in my larger next next summer just as preventative maintenance.

I'm not sure what brand ours is, but its exactly like that. From the construction to the capacity. Very nice tool to have around.

Very nice. I also need a very HD jack with a bunch of fully loaded 3500 extended wheelbase vans here!
