Super clubs, fish fries, and cheese curds. The residents of these counties are eating and drinking well

Many, many years ago, the wife and I were on a tour of the Korbel winery in CA. They mentioned on the tour that 50% of all brandy sold in the US goes to Wisconsin. This map only confirms what we heard 30+ years ago, and apparently not much has changed.

Wow.

There is a guy that exclusively video reviews Wisconsin "dive bars". Yet these bars are actually really nice. Not disco nice, but a place to enjoy some homemade comfort food, spirits, amoung nice people.

I heard the "old fashion" is the official cocktail of Wisconsin.

What is the difference, a cheese curd instead of a Luxardo cherry as the garnish?
"For the unfamiliar, the old fashioned cocktail in just about every place other than Wisconsin is traditionally made with a whiskey, like bourbon, sugar and bitters.

But in Wisconsin, brandy usually replaces whiskey — and it’s most often poured over a mixture of muddled cherries, orange slices, sugar and bitters. Depending on how sweet or sour the imbiber likes it, the concoction is then topped with a lemon-lime soft drink, sour mix, club soda, or some combination."

Cold northern winters with a lot of snow, and a lot of people spending time indoors?

I thought for sure that my cousins in Florida would have earned a marking of Florida on that map.

I'm surprised that Boulder or Denver County Colorado is not on there. Colorado has I think one of the highest numbers of microbreweries plus Coors. North and South Dakota are interesting. I guess low population and cold winters?

Maybe just really good bars, run by the owners, that serve great comfort food, friendly atmosphere, and super friendly pricing.

Can't imagine what a cocktail costs in the greater Denver area- but I suspect pricey and not something many people will want to spend their hard-earned money on five plus days a week.

It's weird. A number of restaurants and bars are leaving Denver for surrounding areas that are cheaper. Alot of restaurants have closed due to thin margins but some always seem to keep making money.
