The $119 Nespresso Machine and pod thoughts

I'd love to make you an espresso if you ever make it down to the bustling metropolis of Dickson, Tennessee, USA!

I certainly don't make it every day. On workdays, I'm out the door at 4:30 am and the wife leaves at 6:30, so I make a pot of drip coffee for us (usually set it up the night before).

But yeah, on days off, certainly do enjoy the ritual.

Cheers!
Likewise; let me know if you ever make it to the GTA.(y)

I've actually been there once, when I was a little kid, maybe 2-3 yrs old, in around 1982 or so (parents had a conference there). I think they took me to the zoo, and I know we went out on the lake in a boat. And somewhere we were, had a robotic arm display that I played with.

I'd love to go back. Amazing city.

Is the CN Tower observation deck open? Didn't they restore the exterior a few years back?

Cool; thanks.

Not to my knowledge, but they have made some changes over the years. I probably haven't been to the top of the tower in over 20 years. I've been on the grounds, but that's about it. My wife and I were recently discussing with the kids (19 and 17) that we should take them one day, they've never been to the top. One of those things you take for granted I guess, just like Niagara Falls. We see the falls regularly when we cross into NY state, I live about a 45 minute drive from the falls. It truly is a wonder; I never get tired of it.

Are you referring to Vertuoline?
I'm not sure what it's called.

Is it a secondary form factor, or a replacement?
Whats the difference in the two products in terms of capacity per puck/ pod?
Are the same flavors available in both form factors?

Nespresso's Vertuoline is their premium offering. It uses larger proprietary capsules to create a variety of coffee based beverages. Every variety of capsule has a bar code that the machine will interpret and brew accordingly, such as water volume and brew temperature. I never bought into it as I prefer a dedicated espresso machine. The Vertuoline can also make milk based beverages, if you're into those.

That type of thing is fine for those looking for simplicity, consistency, ease of cleaning/maintenance and that's fine. BUT it will never come remotely close to quality/mind blowing espresso from a dialed in setup using fresh/decent developed coffee. To each their own though!

Of course not better than mind blowing Italian café. But better than most people's home espresso I tell you. Not that the machines are lacking, but spend $2500 on a machine, learn to use it and buy coffee beans worthy of the machine. This has been a trend lately.

Latest purchase of pods.
