If you're going to make the leap to a real espresso machine, budget in the cost of a real espresso grinder to go with it. The grinder is key to getting good results. I bought my grinder 25 years ago from a restaurant supply house. Best $300 I ever spent.

My grinder does decent espresso, but good idea.

When this dude takes a dump, yep. Real machine. I've been whispering it to the Treasurer as she sleeps, so should be an easy buy :p
It's been outstanding thus far. It's in the kitchen at our beach house so it it doesn't get daily use. But it makes excellent espresso. It will get a workout starting Friday. Beach is awesome between Thanksgiving-Christmas.
I love espresso but not the process to get there with a semiautomatic machine. Plus, this supplements my Moccamaster and Delonghi grinder for drip.

Using this machine for the last few weeks. Works well, quality of the coffee is not so well. A nearby mall has a store that only sells these pods, so I will see if I can find a better quality pod.

The company that markets (not sure if they are the manufacturer) of the pods is B Company Coffee.

Are the capsules aluminum (best) or plastic (garbage)?

Are they pressurized? (filled with CO2)

You can sacrifice one and smell the coffee. Good capsules - the coffee actually smells like it was just ground.

They are not really claiming Nespresso are they?

The capsules are plastic, and I just burst one open and zero signs of pressurization.

Thanks for information on the capsules. Later today I will head to the Nespresso store at the mall and check out aluminum pressurized capsules.

The positive pressure is just a back fill. Not much just enough to displace the oxygen. Oh it could very well be N2, not carbon dioxide you get the picture

Are there any large grocery stores near you or even Target? Check if they carry Peet's nespresso pods - these are good quality. #9 is my favorite...

My local Meijer stores have these on sale every now and then - that's when I stock up. :)

It's probably a fake Nespresso store!

No Target stores in XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

But a decent large western type market store near a metro area might have them.
