Thanksgiving plans

Drive 20 minutes and my wife has 4 sisters all married with 3 kids. 5-10 more relatives and its on.

I enjoy spending my day with family which it is all about. I have volunteered occasionally at church for older folks for an hour in morning. I will never make that my all day affair as its a holiday about family how much or little you have. I am a stickler about keeping the holiday not fudging it to a convenient day like our government does for three day weekends.

Because of sickness and a daughters broken family my wife, daughter and I are going out to dinner today.

Believe me, I thank the Lord for as good as things are, we could be much worse off.

Same here, except neighbors (German lady married to a US guy) has invited us for tea/cake/Thanksgiving-ish time at their house in the afternoon.

It's been a long time since both wife and I have been off on Thanksgiving day.

We're sitting in a hotel awaiting a call to go to my dad's house....he was just released from the hospital with a diagnosis of lung cancer and his wife thought it best for him to rest a bit before getting company. I understand and he looked visibly worn out yesterday.

We had hoped for a longer visit (we live 6 hours away) but will take what we can get. I feel bad for him and wish I could take his pain....he retired from the Army as a Colonel, went on to become a high school substitute teacher and has been living the good life....I have NEVER known him to be afraid of anything.....until now.

June 4th I left for the USAF. Since my departure my wife and I have purchased and remodeled our first home together. She did an amazing job picking out everything and working with the contractors. We closed on the house when I was at basic training. I get to officially come home (for 3 days) and finally see the results of our hard work!

I'm SO thankful for her!

Anyone else as excited as I am?!?!?!?

I'm currently in tech school 1200 miles from home. I'm in the Reserves so I'll resume teaching when I'm all finished and qualified. This is a 11 month ordeal and I'm more then half way through.


Haha sorry I meant what is your job going to be in the AF. What school are you going to?
