Those morons at the dealership torqued the flare nut on the brake line so tight I can't remove it. What the ---- do I do? I am already using a flare nut wrench (6 sided I believe) and a ton of Seafoam. I believe the wrench has strip 3 of 8 sides on the flare nut. Mad

I want to put the stainless steel brake line but I can't remove the old one. Thanks again Mazda!

vise grip it HARD.

Cut it off and get a good set of bolt-outs on there (those sockets with the blades in them). Never found a brake line that stood up to the bolt out and a breaker bar.

oxy/acetyl torch is your best friend. I see this all the time but no usually on an japanese import. Odd but I see domestics sieze up more so than any japanese/german import.

Clamp a vise grip onto your flare nut wrench, not the fitting itself. You may be able to remove from the other end, then slide a box end down the tubing onto your stuck fitting. Use good tools like Snap-On.

Where are these flare nuts at anyway? Are they the ones on the lines going into the master cylinder? When I've had a to loosen something real tight with a wrench, and I needed a little more persuasion, I'd wrap a towel around the wrench and then tap it with a hammer; that way I didn't scratch the chrome.

Vise grip saves the day. I got it off and now have braided stainless steel lines on all four corners and Hawk HPS pads. I still have to do the oil change tomorrow. I can't wait to try it.

I don't understand the idea of using a vise grip on a flare wrench. If the flare nut is already round or about to be round. What is the vice grip doing to help matters?

You never told us initially, that you rounded off the flarenut!

Well I did say "I believe the wrench has stripped 3 of 8 sides on the flare nut."

When you can only get the wrench to work in 3 of 8 sides (tight in space around there) and they are all rounded. I consider the nut to be rounded.
