I guess I'm confused as to why you'd put a multi-vehicle fluid in something that has a fluid made for it.
Because sometimes the Honda fluid doesn't do the job. When you get a transmission that is out of warranty (or still under warranty but they won't acknowledge the problem) and the torque converter shutters on lockup, you either have to leave with it, replace the converter, or try a different fluid. In my case, our 08 Accord shuttered terribly with Honda ATF. When the torque converter locked up you wanted to have a good grasp on your coffee cup. The car was under warranty, but the dealer maintained that it was normal operation. I finally got an ATF change out of them, but it didn't help.
On the advice of another BITOG member, I did several drain and refills with Royal Purple Max ATF. It completely eliminated the shutter and the transmission operated perfectly for as long as we owned the car...which was roughly one year and 15,000 miles after the fluid change.
