I like the Renegade, how open and airy it is inside. But I can see the dislike for it - it really is a 'lightweight' Jeep product, not much ground clearance, and not a very solid feel. Cherokee is a much more substantial-feeling vehicle.
It is really more of a car than the Cherokee. I do feel it is solid, though. I drove this one down one of the worst country roads I know and it really kept its composure. Keep in mind I drive a JLU Rubicon every day, which is solid as a steel ingot.
If I had the choice, I'd go Cherokee, hands down, especially a Trailhawk. But for the mini utes, like Honda Element, etc, I like the Renegade best in the class. It has a better Awd system that locks. Its competitors don't have a center differential lock.
Stay tuned and we'll see if it endears itself to us, or not.
