Tesla stops including charging cables with cars... Stupid!

something very retarded is happening
why the chargers need your cables???

you dont bring own hose when taking fuel

oh btw.. more sockets, more resistance+losses.... this clearly negative for chargers having detachable cable......

I have a feeling when you buy cars in the near future, even the engine would be optional ... You want this car sir, you can't drive it as is, the engine is optional and costs another $8000.
I could have easily added another $10000 optional packages to my truck. For example I have heated seats but no nuts cooler (air-conditioned seat).

That would probably happen but you do have laws that prevent that. Probably merchantability. If you buy something, it should work for it's intended purpose so they can't sell a car that doesn't have an engine because then it wouldn't be a car. But it's pretty common to have the bigger/better engine being an option package.

The cables aren't for use at public charging stations, they are for charging at home or at a friend's house.

The advertised "base model" is at least $10000 more when you stop by the dealer.

Sir, that engine is from our Honda lawnmower and it's for city driving. you won't be able to safely merge on freeway so we recommend this other model with a bigger engine only for $12000 more and if you buy it today otherwise it will be $14000 more tomorrow :)

not rare to see station with detachable wires. around eu
i wonder how this can be a target of theft, because cables are not cheap...
Weird, I've never seen one in Canada.
I think it's only common with Type 2 AC charging, meaning almost everywhere outside of N.A. The 'charger' (EVSE) is referred to as "untethered" with a maximum of 32A per phase. It's less expensive to install this type and there's no cable to maintain. Many EVs come with the required cable to suit their on-board charger, normally 32A 1-ph or 16A 3-ph.

The connector locks at the EV end while the car is off to avoid theft.

you from Canada man? Didn't know that! Now I know why you love 0W. Maybe because of necessity and not because it has a good base oil. lol

I thought you were local. We'll have to check your visa next time you post. j/k
hope you are doing well and recovering fast.

My Model 3 came with less stuff than yours, little things like console inserts and the 240 Volt adapter. And I preferred chrome door handles and trim around the windows like on the earlier models; chrome looks better with blue.

There were some improvements though. For example a heat pump and a wireless cellphone charger are significant improvements.

Considering the price increase and that the Model 3 no longer qualifies for incentives in Canada, the customer will be paying a lot more this year. Glad I bought when I did.
Due to a price increase and the loss of government subsidies as a result of the price increase, the drive away price of a blue but otherwise base Model 3 in BC has gone from $52,000 Cdn last summer to $72,440 Cdn. That's more than a 39% increase in only 8 months.

As one of my friends from Newfoundland used to say, "they knows how to charge."

My fancy Microsoft surface has some issues and I love to buy a new one but they are PRICY! ... so I use my stupid amazon kindle. Up to a while back it didn't even show the signatures. I now can see people's signatures and the oil they use. I really like your oil selections! Almost bought Ravenol but decided against it due to the price. I've put a $5/qt limit (pre-covid) and still haven't increased it. Wal-Mart had M1 EP for $24.xx yesterday. I'm now buying Kirkland or Havoline pro-ds (my last purchase $19 for 6 qt) and M1 EP or M1 Euro FS 0W-40 for one car.

Anyway, I don't see your location but when I clicked on your name, I saw it.

I have couple of gadgets with VERY short charging cables. For example my stupid kindle has also a 17" long cable so Jeff Bezos can visit the moon or the outer space or wherever it is that he goes for 5 minutes!
I can't surf in the bathroom if low on power cuz the cable is too short.

If I really need extra-long time on the head, I can bring along one of these things. Heck - I tend to use 4" cables with them.'

good idea. I also bought a block charger thingy to use for outdoors. It can fully charge my phone and handheld gps at least 2-3 times. Used to do 4 full charges but losing a little power over the years.
