Tesla metal workers go on strike, claims they are paid below industry wages and benefits.
130 on strike right now, IF Metall (the union) says if Tesla doesnt change its position it will strike workshop repairs on Tesla cars across Sweden, not just those done by Tesla employees.
Very interesting how the Swedish union works. I doubt this will add up to much but could it be a catalyst for the rest of the world?

This, and if California can stop being so smug and look at new diesel engine technology that can drop in now then we'd be better off. Cummins just unveiled a new diesel engine that reduces nox by 90%. Another company has a tested certified Six cylinder boxer twin-turbo diesel engine that exceeds 2035 requirements.
ICE do not meet the agenda no matter how clean they are.
I put required in quotes because technically builders could meet the current code by building better homes rather than throwing panels on the roof. I wonder if the contract changes will change the calculus.

Tesla getting closer to a six month low today (at least so far, one never knows) but needs to go up close to 50% to attain its 6 month high.

That said I’m about sick of the noise levels of some of these modified cars. Those people should have slow golf carts forced on them. I love cars but come on, time and place. A little self control. Open exhaust full throttle through town is uncalled for.
I'm sure I will be depressed when the market closes today and I update my spreadsheet to reflect the gain or loss of my TSLA shares for October 2023. But since I don't need the money at the moment it's just numbers on paper. People who buy TSLA at $200 will be creaming their jeans when it reaches $400. Or $1000 as some people who evaluate the company differently than those who think by traditional methods do.
For people who bought TSLA when it was around $40 they are still way ahead today. That's the way it goes with the stock market.

What about the ones that bought at $400? $300? $250? What about the ones that bought in July 2023 down 32% and no words at all coming from Tesla that says things will be better. I personally think it MAY get a boast starting in Jan 2024 when the taxpayers will allow those buying an EV to use the $7,500 tax credit at time of sale, possibly as a downpayment.
Based on your statement you think Tesla has a chance to hit its all time high of $400 set years ago. That would be a good thing for some people who didnt take the loss.

UAW is gunning for Tesla now that the strike has been settled with the big three USA makers.
UAW organization meetings taking place right now at the Tesla California production facilities. It will be very tempting I would think as a worker to say no to the UAW with the lastest pay scales and incredible perks the UAW just won in Detroit.
After all the UAW was criticizing GMs CEO outlandish income, heck she is no where near Musks income.
The incredible concessions the UAW won IS going to raise the pay for all non union autoworkers as they try to keep unions out.
I expect this may hang further one Tesla share price as their profits are getting hit from all directions as well as EVs in general. Maybe they will develop a hybrid and without an ICE I think they will be the VW Beetle of automakers which will be good but will never take over the USA market.

As of right now the shine is wearing off, faster then I expected but always expected. I do think the media train, like they always do is overstating the demise, EVs have a place, just not as much as some might think. After all is was the darling of the media to begin with.

The Swedish strike failed yesterday. No one stopped working.
Of all the us auto stocks Telsa is still performing the strongest up + 83% year to date down YTY -12.66
GM is at a 3 year low down -28% YTY and YTD -16.88%
Ford at a loss YTY -26% and down -15% YTD
EV's are still the fastest growing auto segment and likely will be for years to come.
With the big 3 pretty much admitting defeat in the space it will be interesting to see who fills the gap.
Expensive Evs that dont perform with huge dealer markups are going to languish on lots - as they should.

I would too, it would even the playing field since Teslas profit in the USA come solely on the backs of tax credits and the USA ICE makers have to compete with that and be disadvantaged with the UAW cost.I'm not a union fan but I'd love to see the union in Tesla.
Im blown away by the cost of the new contract. As a parent, I am happy for my son at BMW because all non union automakers follow what union pay package are in the desire to keep the unions out and from ruining their company by losing control to an outsider.
Imagine the union and then $7,500 incentive disappearing. Lookout below......................
Yeah it's funny. Take care of your people an no one is interested in unionizing. Way back the industry thought to take advantage of workers and now they'll be forced to deal with it for the rest of the company's existence. It's called consequence of actions.
I'm sure at one time it used to be competitive to not have safety standards or decent pay and just replace workers as others got hurt or killed.
Why do you think Elon has tried to emulate Henry Ford's plan? That was his original idea. Not sure where it got lost along the way, but eventually the unions stepped into Ford.
Well actually there is a strike against repairing Tesla's in Sweden for what they claim is mistreatment.
Also, UAW membership in the USA is at an all time low but a huge margin. So bad the UAW went into the education field representing workers.
I do agree, Union threats are good, I heard it first hand from an upper level manager at a non union US plant, the UAW keeps the non union workers at non union plants happy so they dont vote union. I do think this settlement is over the top and will continue the decline of the US made automobile but what do I know?
It will be interesting to see what happens at the CA Tesla production plants as the UAW is now trying to organize. Tesla not unique, UAW trying to always get into non union plants but this latest contract might further their cause.
I don't know much of their industry either. I'd have to be in it to really understand it. I just don't have enough information to know for sure. I know the history of my industry and it resulted in sleep deprivation which caused its own dangers and poor practices which mean for a lot of death and dismemberment. Now it's there mostly to fight shareholder greed attempting to line their pockets despite our own pockets and own health. I do have to say it does suck working for a company that no matter what you do that the standoff means that you're only a number. The last thing to fight for is pay for our trouble and really that's all that is left.
