I frequent the I5 & 10 freeways from LA to San Fran, and LA to Vegas - and the supercharger stations I see are all either from 75% full to overcapacity at every one - every stop.

These thing sell like crazy here.

Many Tesla Model S in So Cal, more than Mercedes S-class and BMW 7 series and Audi A8.

So Cal is the biggest buyer of Tesla Model S.

Each side has some advantages over the other.

FCV advantage is long distance driving assume that many more fueling stations will be built the next 5-10 years.

EV advantage is easy to charge battery and infrastructure is already exist, only upgrading/modernize is needed.

Not only CA supports both FCV and EV, Federal does the same with tax incentive for all ZEV.

Tesla Model 3 is still 2 years out from production and that is a lot of time for things to change. I hope they actually do produce it and bring it to market but until that happens it's not a done deal.

Tesla is building a network of Supercharger stations that will enable trips pretty much anywhere

Now for that Model III? If they can't get it out maybe they should just focus on the charging network and sell "fill-ups" to owners of other brands.

They are common around here, I got a coffee by our local Tesla dealer today and they have a couple dozen awaiting delivery on the lot.


Since they adopted AWD which is pretty much standard in their segment in the Northeast their popularity really seems to have increased.

I live in a middle class neighborhood, and there's at least three of them here. Nearest dealer is 120 miles away. I see almost one a day in the city.

Interesting, I must live in a bubble then. I live in North Delaware with a high concentration of Engineering and Financial Banking types and my daily commute takes me into Philly each day. I have yet to have ever notice one. Every other high end European car model is not in short supply, but seeing a Tesla has eluded me.

May be you didn't look hard enough.

Tesla Model S is just like an large ordinary 4-dr sedan, it doesn't standout from a crowd of cars.

Could be. I am sure they are out there, just I have not stumbled upon one and knew it.

Funny thing is I have actually seen 3 or 4 FISKER Karma's in the area when they were supposedly going to start production in a old GM plant here in Wilmington Delaware before they went into bankruptcy.
 
I have seen 2 Teslas in the West Island and the West end of Montreal.

I encourage people to keep an open mind on new tech like this, early adopters should be encouraged if they can afford such amazing vehicles.
 
I see one every day, then again its my friend's car and he lives right down the street...

I see at least 3-4 a week around here. As others have mentioned, their styling isn't too extreme so they can easily be mistaken for just another typical sedan.

My friend had a problem with the fuse box on his (apparently a bad gasket allowed moisture in, first problem he has had in almost 30,000 miles) so Tesla showed up with a flatbad to haul his back to the shop, and dropped off a shiny black 2015 Model S to use in the meantime. Which he promptly drove to my house and said "Want to drive it?" which I gladly accepted.

Absolutely amazing cars, I wish them all the success in the world. A fairly young company putting out a remarkably refined product, producing jobs right here and doing things as well or better than car companies that have been in the business for decades. I don't see much of a downside to them being around.

The cold weather isn't as kind to them.

Norway is a huge market for Tesla s well and its clear that the cold cuts mileage by a lot.
Id make sure it stayed every night with a plug in it.
