, It depends on your use case, of course. Unfortunately Uber performance seems to be part of that use case, for some reason.
If I understood @JHZR2 post, he is considering a driver. The base single motor is the hot ticket for that scenario. I would use the stock wheels mainly because range is everything. It really is.

You will not find this much fun in a car at this price anywhere.

The best deal of all would be a used Model 3; good used inexpensive Teslas can be found all day long. In the big scheme of things we are in the early stages of EVs as mass produced cars. Today's EVs will not hold their value as newer, cheaper and better ones come out. Likewise traditional ICE business will continue to be affected as well.

Plus Tesla will be belly up any day now, and Elon is wack, so there's that.

Arguably, the miata/frs/brz are way more fun. Handling is superb, and tires in that size are cheap.

I saw a blue GT86 on coilovers with bronze wheels today and I really wanted one. I know it’s a lot of fun for not much money.

I'm so freaking close to pulling the trigger. I know I talked crap about the brakes and the battery heat issues flogging it, but lets face it I haven't made it to a track in years. It's far from how the car will be used other than the random blast for giggles. It's really how I use the GTI, some backroad blasts.

I did the math with the tax credit and this is the same money as a new VW Golf R and where else am I going to get this much power for the money? My wife is all for it too. Full green lights everywhere. I can't figure out why I'm hesitating.

Do it. We have a Highland LR AWD and are very happy with it, except when going through traffic circles.

I don’t want a crossover and I’m not just trying to win a race. I don’t care if it has 8 million horsepower. If that’s what I wanted, wouldn’t have bought a GTI. Over the standard car I just wanted the upgraded seats, suspension, and stereo mostly. The Performance made it a bit more interesting overall too. If the LR RWD had most of that stuff and an adjustable track mode to play around a bit, I’d just buy it anyway.

LR RWD with adaptive suspension would've been close to perfect for me.

Yes. It's a proper car made by a company that has the facilities and expertise to manufacture cars, not ipads.
