Following this logic then level 5 full autonomous driving isn't possible if software and hardware can't come up with every possible scenario.

It takes time, and it won't need to be perfect for people to take risks. Usually it means they are good enough and make them a lot of money.

Horses can go through a lot of places that cars couldn't but eventually human move on to cars despite not being perfect, and roads and traffic rules change to make them good enough or better. Eventually roads will probably upgrade to dedicated self driving only lane that would change direction between traffic congestion and when arranged correctly, will have all 4 directions heading into a red light for human driver time slot without crashing into each other. We are not there yet, but one day we will.

To override emergency braking, let off the accelerator and hit it again. You have to committ to override it. It doesn't just happen.

I've done it because sometimes it does just kick in unnecessarily rarely, but it does happen. I had it happen earlier when someone pulled out in front of me but continued through the intersection out of my way while driving without using FSD or Autopilot. Not being able to override it could cause an accident in itself. Tesla is pretty cheap with their implementation of features. I can't imagine they developed anything different for the semi. We went years without Cybertruck having summon because they couldn't figure it out within the parameters of FSD as it existed on other Tesla vehicles.

In engineering we call them high 9 probability. If you insist 0 failure nobody will do business with you.

You can say 1 incident within 9,999,999 miles driven which means 1 in 10Million miles. This definitely would be better than human driver by 10x but not zero failure. This is why we have insurance and seat belt and air bags. This is why someone is still selling you insurance despite once in a while they have to pay hundred thousands to compensate for injuries.

The problem with Tesla's FSD is not human is better (it isn't). The problem with Tesla's FSD is they try to act like they are the only FSD in town and they are the best, when Waymo is already doing everything 2-3 years ahead of them and is still not perfect.

People are not stupid, Elon pretends he is the monopoly and the best when reality people saw that it is not, and people hold Tesla to a higher standard that Waymo already met and raised constantly.

One is available in a car you can own. The other isn't. Waymo isn't even a consideration by that metric which is what I believes prompts this response to FSD. Is FSD perfect? Far from it. Do I like FSD? At this point after many months of usage, not really. I've genuinely grown to hate how it feels and as of this week have completely quit using it. I do see the benefit in it for those that truly are terrible drivers. You hear all the time "FSD is so much of a better driver than I am!" Yes, it's because you're a terrible driver and the only thing FSD accomplishes is that it will actually stop before running into something when you're not paying attention. That's where the safety aspect comes in. It's a pretty rough driver that leaves a lot to be desired if you prefer smooth acceleration, braking, steering inputs, and not speeding without intervention.
