Let me be clear. I am not now or have I ever called for Terry to publicly post customer used oil analysis. If Terry or anyone thinks this is my wish, then they are mistaken.

We'll I've seen nature's green as described and illustrated in Hawaii and Key West. But I've yet to see the " Sovereign of Oily Goodness" in personquote:

Back to Red Line 5w-20.
I have contacted Redline to see if they can provide more deep and meaningful data for this thread. The Chemist and tech folks are evaluating what they can share.
As soon as ANY of my customers authorize it I will post Red Line 5w-20 used oil analysis results with my interpretation of key areas for you to devour.

Since I own a vehicle that calls for the use of 5w-20, I'll be more than happy to run multiple 7500 mile intervals of Redline 5w-20 and in the interest of science (and BITOG data), have Blackstone do UOA on the first three or four intervals. Now all I need is a constant supply of said motor oil
. I'll pay the first $1.44/qt (the cost of my usual Havoline).
I'm willing to throw myself under the bus for the good folks here. Just trying to do my part and be a good BITOG citizen

Seriously.....unless we're talking long drain intervals, I don't know if a simple UOA can tell us how much better (or worse) Redline 5w-20 really is. Looking back through some 5w-20 reports, it seems most cars spec'd for 5w-20 seem to show good, even excellent wear numbers. I think to truly test Redline's offering the drain interval needs to be at least 10,000 miles and in a car not spec'd for a 5w-20.

I'm at 7800 miles right now on my Red Line 5w20. I'm prob going to sample at 9k so by the time I have the results back I can change at 10k if nec. I have been in contact w/ Terry. Its the first run after M1. I'll post when the results come thru. If Terry wants to comment or not, that is his deal.
I think the question might be; Can you use it in a motor that normally calls for a higher viscosity, get better gas mileage and HP but with adequate protection?

was poo-pooed by Redline in that the data they sent me was the basic stuff you can get in the marketing data. Good stuff, and really not too sappy but alas you lube geeks have already digested all that. I even offered to sign secrecy agreements...........

goodvibes, if you can find any brand SL/SM 20w oil that is capable of 3.3 on a HTHS test and still pump and flow properly over 10,000 miles in a normal engine then it is worth considering. Of course as always back up your experiments with analysis interpreted by someone who knows what it means.
