Ten oil filters compared. Video.

Key point, much has changed. SuperTech MP gone. Mobil 1 has a different/new new manufacturer. All the Champ Labs made filters (eg. K&N, ST, Amsoil) have been shown this forum and WCW to have bypass piece seal area issues. XP no longer full synthetic media. So as noted, of those shown safe easy call, Microgard Select MSL.

I hope PGI is watching and understands that making any changes to down grade a good filter is a bad move when they seem to basically at the top right now.

His table shows the origin of the MicroGard Select to be the USA, but it's made in Asia. Maybe he's looking at who distributes the filters, which in the case of the MicroGard would be PGI in the USA.

I think a big factor in why that happens(besides money) is that people who truly care about this stuff like we do, is such a small percentage of the driving population. I would dare say that 80% or more of vehicle owners couldn’t care less about what’s the best filter for their budget.

Just received 4 Microgard Select MSL57356 from O'Reilly, had to order them online so wasn't able to actually look at them. I had assumed (dangerous, I know) that these were made in Vietnam likely others that were cut/examined here on BITOG. Well, turns out they are made in China. I generally avoid Chinese products as they cheat so much. They SEEM well made, but I'm uneasy about using them. Should I just go ahead and use them? What's the experience here with Chinese Microgard Select filters?

Send’em to me, I’ll gladly run them 👍

The China made PGI filters have the same great quality in my experience.

Still made for PGI, so I'd think they are still meeting the build and quality requirements of PGI. Could be that PGI watches over their suppliers like a company contracting manufacturing should.
