Tell me your tricks and fixes for squeaky windshield wipers

My Geo Prizm actually benefited from "wiper huggies ( not diapers). I think the spring wasn't as firm as it had been causing the wiper arms to exert less pressure on the blades. I install the wiper huggies I got from Napa and they slip over the pivot and wiper arm keeping them in place.
Interesting, never heard of nor knew such a thing existed! Bet my Maxima could have benefited. We replaced the arm with used, and the linkage, no dice.

I've used Trico for almost 25 years now. Never a squeak. But then again, I always run my wipers on various speeds stop & go, unless there's a downpour. Also, I never keep the wipers on when the glass becomes dry.

Also, never use the blades to aid in removing ice. Never turn on the wipers unless thawed or unfrozen ..... meaning free the blades that are stuck to the frozen windshield, prior to turning on the wiper motor. De-ice the glass - then turn on the wipers.

Trico wiper blades last a long-long time this way..... and never streak or squeak until finally worn out.

I installed these few weeks ago and they are quite good so far. They squeak a bit on a dry windscreen, but once it’s wet they are quiet. I will see how long they last.

OEM or PIAA (silicone) blades seem more resistant.

Polish the glass with cerium oxide.

I used to use Rain-X. Works great for the first half hour of rain.

Then they chatter far worse, leaving rubber deposits.

I've posted this fix before, so a search may bring it up.
Apparently, Mercedes wipers can be subject to the same problem. So much so, that the last two cars that I bought, the dealershipp gave me a set of OEM wipers when I picked up the car! No small expense, something like $90.00 a pair now!

Anyway, what worked for me is a VERY thorough cleaning with the following solvents, in this order:
1, Glass cleaner
2, Lacquer thinner
3, 90% Isoproyl Alc.
4, Glass cleaner or Ammonia, like someone suggested.
Use all new, clean paper towels to apply the solvents. If you feel any rough spots, you can go over that area with glass cleaner and a razor blade.

Be sure to wipe the blades themselves with Alcohol too. I did this to my present car about 4 years ago, and they haven't squeaked or skipped since. I'd be afraid to use any abrasives, such as steel wool due to the risk of scratching the glass.

Our Prius has chronically squeaking windshield wipers. I've changed the blades 3 times, cleaned with dish soap and various glass cleaners, tried Rain-X, etc. It always starts squeaking soon after anything I've tried. It seems like the smaller of the two wipers is the squeakiest.
Have you looked at a couple of YouTube videos? I can't remember the exact channel but one guy hit the nail on the head. Apparently some vehicles can have the arm come out of alignment. By taking a pair of channel locks you should be able to Bend the arm and blade back vertical. Using a glass scrub like glass science Also makes a big difference

Yep. Trico titans (made in USA) and just installed a set of silicones on the wife’s car. We haven’t had rain since , so I can’t vouch for them yet. Nissan oem, (mitsuba) brand are unbelievable but apparently impossible to find.

Oem or a higher quality equivelent. Of the aftermarket, I have had good luck with SWF/Valeo or one of the higher end Bosch products (they make like 5 or 6 price points). The cheapo ones from membership clubs or mass market tend to be the ones that wear most quickly (including the cheapest metal framed Bosch ones) and can end up being noisy. I'm in rainy Seattle so I learn quickly which work well.

I have friends that swear by PIAA silicone infused wipers...I haven't tried them yet. I'm happy with my current choices.

I have a 2017 Tundra. I've gone thru more wiper blades with this truck in the 7years ive owned it than other other vehicle i've had.Factory ,aftermarket doesnt matter .None last on this truck for some reason
Funny. I have a 2017 Tundra and still run the original wipers. Getting close to replacement time though. I clean the windshield frequently.
Not overly hot and sunny in BC . Maybe the heat kills them.

My solution is to buy the OEM wiper insert, not the whole blade from 3rd party. I haven't seen good and durable blades being sold in a store that's better than OEM yet so far.

I got just about 2 years from the original factory blades.Since then i go threw prob 2 pair a year

I change every 8-12 months with the cheapest I can find. It’s all about fresh rubber. Also when fresh they work really well. Smooth running.

If geometry of the blades and spring tension are correct then it's the insert causing the issues.
I tried many wiper styles and brands except silicon and settled on Bosch Icon, they seem to last about 2 years and perform great for that long, no streaks, no squeaks and clean great. They sure may last longer than 2 years but I replace every 2 years anyway.

Do they chatter or skip across the windshield as well? If so a guy on YouTube has a video showing how to carefully bend the wiper arm back into alignment. If not go to napa or O'Reilly's and pick up a bottle of windshield glass scrub. The one at napa is in a black bottle and the O'Reilly's one is glass scrub which is good as well. I've found that depending on the climate and build-up on the roads can cause build up on the windshield that glass cleaner won't remove.
This is the answer. No wiper blade will perform correctly if the angle that the wiper arm is pushing it down to the windshield is wrong. I followed the advice from the video and fixed on of my old trucks that had been squeaking for years
