Tecumseh Enduro 15.5 OHV any good?

Have an oppertunity to get a free tractor with low hours. Engine does not crank at proper speed to start. It turns over, stops on the compression stroke, then eventually turns again and stops and repeats. It was put away fully operational 10 yrs ago.

Assuming it is bad electrical cables or starter issues, are these acceptable engines?

From my limited experience with that brand it was near impossible to find any specifications for the engine I was working on. I gave away the rider it was on. I wish you luck.

Sourcing parts for Tecumseh can be iffy, but it sounds like the freebie is only a battery and carb cleaning away from being useful. What brand of tractor? We have a White Outdoors in the shop with a Tecumseh ohv twin. Not a bad runner, the dual carb setup is interesting.

Sounds possible that the compression release could also be inop if that engine has one.
