I know H/K cars are said to be better now. However H/K is very well known for cutting corners to save a penny. Literally. The extreme number of engine failures is one example. H/K has had more recent catastrophic engine failures than all other manufacturers combined. And it is not just one 'fault'. It is a combination of issues stemming from the metallurgy and quality of the parts.
With a company culture of cost cutting, I'd avoid them, if only to save myself some grief.
However, I drive Jaguars so I accept risk. I own 2 of them. Neither has given me any trouble. One has 230,000 miles on it.
