$11K for the 2001 is actually fair if its in decent shape. There much sought after still.

Wow, very excellent condition.
Places like Mountain Magic Motors get almost all (if not all) of their vehicles from auctions where other dealers dump vehicles they don't want for various reasons. I would think this vehicle needs a repair of some kind and if so, this will not be disclosed to you. It's way over-priced and if repairs are needed within a year, and if you can't afford both the monthly payment and repair costs then the vehicle becomes repo bait. Meanwhile, MMM has made a profit after you made payments for a year and they can turn around and sell it to the next guy in line. If you really must buy it, ask to take the vehicle to be inspected by a certified Toyota mechanic BEFORE you sign anything or put down ANY money. I think MMM will refuse and then you should run, not walk away because MMM will not allow a pre-purchase mechanical inspection.

That’s too much money even in this economy. I paid $30k out the door for my 2018 brand new.
I performed this Google search "Mountain Magic Motors reviews and complaints". Steve wrote, "Unless you are totally desperate don't shop here. Almost all cars come from auction, and will likely to break down before you've had it a year. My wife and I were looking for a car for my son. We were looking at a couole couole, but we're talked into a old RAV4. Less than 3 m.onths later the alternator battery and transmission all went out. Going to end up paying half again what we paid just to get it fixed. Take the trip down the hill and find a good used car." Michele wrote, "This place is a "what you see, is what you get" kinda place. We've purchased 3 cars from them and you have to realize that you're buying a used car, likely from an auction and you must have the car checked by your own mechanic...." There are 5 other 1-star reviews including, odometer fraud proven by a Carfax report, and another report of hidden defects.
I HATE these things. I've been stuck with them as rentals. I don't care if it's reliable, imo that's a net negative...it'll stick around longer to torture you.

I love everything about Tacomas on paper, but the seating position is really uncomfortable for me.
I had to google smod. Transmission cooler ruptures. Saw a few when I worked at the radiator shop
After you typed this sentence, there shouldn’t be anyone here that could or should talk you into buying it.
With that said, I understand the “Toyota tax”, but that’s way too high. Let them keep their expensive Taco.
Out of curiosity, how much did they offer for your TJ? Even with high mileage, TJ’s are desirable if they’re in good shape.
Not sure I would agree that the Tacoma would be more than your 02 Wrangler.

I did a similar thread in which I asked folks to talk me OUT of a purchase, from which they failed. But in my case, I had been wanting one for many years.
In your case, what can the Tacoma do that the Jeep can't.
Not sure if you have a small utility trailer, but if you dont have one, it would be much cheaper than the Tacoma, and could haul more stuff.
Of course, if your Jeep is having issues then there is a different dynamic to the question.
All in all, if your Jeep is solid,, I would vote for keeping the Jeep, and getting a trailer, for use as a truck bed.

A '24 Tacoma 4wd is at the lower end at $46k. The loaded ones are mid $60's to 70k...
Which as a long-time Toyota fan, is insane, IMO.
