I noticed a major improvment in super cold weather starting with synthetic fluids here in Wisconsin.

Before you spend hard earned money on a block heater......make sure that you are going to be parking at a location that will enable you to plug it in.......as it will do you no good if you cannot plug it in.

I have had the Mobil 1 synthetic 75w-90 up there for 5 months now and no leak. The owners manual calls for 80w-90 conventional. What should I be using? I want to keep it synthetic but don't want to have leaks. Thanks again!

You should be fine running the M1 75W-90, I run it in both the front and rear diffs of my 02 Sierra and have not had any leaks. Also, GM stats you can run the GM branded expensive "grape flavored" 75W-90 synth that is spec'd for the rear diff in the front diffs but it is not required.
