stingray427,
I usually get Amsoil shipments in 3-4 days at most, excluding weekends. If I were to make an order on Monday or Tuesday, most of the time I get it on or before Friday of the same week. Can't complain about that.

I live in California and I got my shipment in two days. I believe tech support said there was a plant in Las Vegas.

Seriously though - I would like an option to ship next day air or something like that.

Quality or API has never been an issue with me personally when referring to Amsoil. The API thing has been beat to death. Amsoil likes to have some flexibility when making an oil, much like Redline/Maxima etc. Nothing wrong with that. As I've said many times before, the only issues I can't stand about Amsoil are the crappy dealers and 4-ball wear test. Thats it. Quality is very good and people that have used Amsoil know this. Next....

True but lets not forget the "action news"....LOL

I don't think you can blame Amsoil for "it turns to this on many forums as soon as Amsoil is posted." If your point is: It sure doesn't help Amsoil - then yeah, thats right.

But you know what? I have to hand it to Titan. He made a GREAT post. Here it is:

Pablo ain't one of those people.

In my opinion, Amsoil gets WAY too much negativity because of a few knucklehead dealers.

Those who blast Amsoil that haven't actually tried it have no weight in my book. Anyone can talk.

Pablo has delt with a lot of hostility. Just by seeing how he works with people here - he has earned my respect and my business.

I remember when Amsoil came out with something (when I was a dealer, few years ago) about their own dealers posting online, forums etc. They were not to do this….never happened nor enforced it.

Since coming online (me) in the mid 1990’s it seems every time Amsoil is posted the threads turn nasty (95% not here). They have a great product buy poor marketing; aka MLM. Then times it is dealers just “pimping” products on forums….

I blame there dealers (bad ones to ruin there [Amsoil’s] rep and good dealers) and some blame goes to Corp Amsoil. If they truly wanted to educated there dealers and promote it better, lack of understanding etc, they would give [free] information and not nickel-and-dime their own dealers to death. But then again, this is typically of MLM’s.

Plus when anyone in the world can sign up for XXX dollars, well that does not help. That one I LOVE!!! I need to pay you [Amsoil] to sell your product…

To close, IF I was to continue using Amsoil and could not buy it at cost from family members I would most certainly look to a few educated, smart, intuitive Amsoil dealers on this forum…

I can see how difficult it is to purchase Amsoil compared to Redline or Mobil 1

yup. For me, in 20 minutes I can have Mobil 1 Truck and SUV in my home and cheaper (and does the same thing for my needs). If the other way is better for some, have at it.

All the products listed are very close but the application and use is what makes you select the oil mfg.

I called up Amsoil today on their website and they cannot sell it to me. I have to go through distributors (individuals who are dealers) What's up with that? I called up a dealer and person who answered the phone didn't know what

what applications you could use Amsoil for or what was compatible to factory specs. Instead they said they will have the person call me back later..

The only good thing about this is I can pick up products from distributor because they don't live far from me hopefully save $$$ on shipping as they gave me 2 options delivered to me via UPS 3 to 7 days or I pick it up from their location.

What's up with that?
It's a multi-level marketing system.
They depend on their dealers to market the product.
Amsoil won't sell to you direct, nor would Avon, nor would Amway.
Amsoil isn't set up to market and sell directly to you, and if they did they'd be screwing their dealers and they'd need to go to a WHOLE NEW business model.
If you use the board-sponsoring BITOG Amsoil dealer for your area I GUARANTEE he'll be better at answering your questions than your nearest dealers. The Amsoil guys who hit this board are head and shoulders above most.

What? What # did you call?

You can order direct from the website if you use ZO# 515729.

You randomly called a dealer? Why not call me or PM or email me? Kinda sucks because my proceeds help support this site as do other sponsors.

I just wanted to find out if Amsoil has ATF that meets/exceeds the Dexron III (h) specs. for an automatic transmission fluid. It is my understanding that Amsoil doesn't have anything for this application but I just wanted to confirm this.

I called the Amsoil site and talked to a person. Who simply asked me what my ZO# was and I told them I don't have one so they said they would have to locate a distributor for me.

They don't have to locate a dealer for you. I'm your huckleberry.

If you had a technical question you can ask me or the technical contact at Amsoil via the webpage. I answered your Dexron IIIH question. With yes Amsoil meets IIIH.

A local NAPA stocks a bunch of AMSoil and prices are pretty good. In a vacuum, I'd use it, no problem. It's probally even cost/effective, but not if it has to run out past 20k to do so. Now that I am running all long ocis, yes, AMSoil is attractive. The problem is that I have the patience and foresight to wait for closeouts and special deals on Mobil 1 / Pennzoil Platinum / GC and the like. Nothing wrong with AMSoil, but I service a lot of cars and I need to look for the cheapest deals. If AMSoil tightened up their product line and got distributed more widely, they would prosper. The internet getting into more households should be a boon for AMSoil....but their marketing is pretty stag-net. (pun intended) No hard feelings Pablo.
