Syntec in 80's rx7

I was in walmart the other day buying oil and this guy in the oil isle started talking to me about how he liked the syntec and thats all he had ever ran in his 80's model RX7
I told him I thought it was bad to run a syn oil in a rotary engine and he said he had never had a problem as he carryed off the 5 qrts of 10w30 syntec

Maybe because it is GRP-III super refined Dino oil base with some PAO content and not a true GRP-4/5 syn?

Or maybe he saw a Castrol commercial and wanted to try the stuff and when talking to you felt that he had to defend his wanting to purchase the product so he made the story up?

He knew that Syntec is not "Fully Synthetic" by European standard.

It is a re-refined dino so that it is safe to use in a rotary engine.

always ran my '86 RX-7 on either Castrol GTX or PYB 10w30. Sold it with 177k and ran great.
