Switch to synthetic, question.

I would if you suspect the filter is filled. Then I would run to 5K and do another OC with Mobil 1. Cut the filter open and inspect for sludge. If OK then run out to 10K with one filter change at 5K.

I'd be shocked if your filter was that full in that short of time, but changing it will hurt nothing and only cost you a couple bucks, since you're wondering about it you might as well do it. Then cut it open for inspection of course!

The reason i suspect is because the oil turned black after only a couple hundred miles. In contrast my accord oil wont darken till about 2000 miles, but ive been using PU regularly. So i know the Mobil 1 is cleaning the civic. I will get another Classic on there and keep the Mobil 1 to 5k miles. Then im gonna do Pennzoil Ultra in it. Makes it easier to us PU because the Civic only uses 3.5qts to fill, leftovers could be used in the Accord or as makeup oil.

Changed the oil at 2500miles. Put in Pennzoil Ultra and a PureOne filter, gonna run this for 5k. Then im gonna run Pennzoil Ultra and a Purolator Synthetic filter for 10k (normal interval).

During this oil change i cleaned the PCV valve, and it was kinda clogged. All good now, hopefully it does not burn much oil anymore. With the first synthetic oil fill, it burned 1qt in 2500 miles. It never burned any conventional oil before i bought it. Funny, after 100 miles the oil color (medium gold) is the same as my Accord with 1000 miles on the same Pennzoil Ultra 5w-20. So im assuming the Pennzoil Ultra is still cleaning the engine.

Ive put 1000 miles on this PU with a PureOne filter...

No burn at all! Zero. I think it was a successful switchover. Not bad for 174k miles

Oh and as stated before, these are all city miles. Cold starts up the wazoo
