So "generally" doesn't count if you're actually choosing an oil because you're going to be starting at -40 degrees; you what to know actual performance and only CCS and MRV will tell you that.
Since you have not responded to my query regarding the "anything but stellar" MRV data for Redline 0W-XX oils, I will provide them for you:
0W-20: 14,000@ -40c
0W-30: 14,800@ -40c
0W-40: 15,500@ -40c
For comparison, Mobil 1 0W-40 has MRV of 31,000@ -40c, Mobil 1 0w30 has a MRV of 13,250@ -40c, Pennzoil Platinum 0W-20 has a MRV of 17,700@ -40, Mobil 1 0W-20 has a MRV of 9200@ -40c.
Your contention that Redline 0W-XX "MRV and CCS spec's are anything but impressive. RL is not an oil one would really consider for extreme cold performance." is pure nonsense. Mobil 1 0W-20 is clearly a standout in extreme cold, but all of the Redline 0W weights would be excellent in extreme cold. In the 0W-40 weight, it is no contest. BTW, the pour point for Mobil 1 0W-40 is quite a bit higher as well. As it's pour point has gone up through formulation changes, so has it's MRV values. The folks at Redline are awaiting your mea culpa.
