Question Regarding Triax Lubricants 0W-20 Oil

I'm not saying they make bad products; I've not tested them or seen enough VOA/UOA data to make any determination in that regard. I am saying I see some misleading lube information (whether unintentional or intentional, it's still incorrect to make some of the claims they do).

Also, on their website, they list no contact info other than an email. There are "customer service" hours, but no phone number. It's as if they don't really want to have to answer questions. The warranty claims address and the distribution center are just offices in shipping/warehouse centers. Further, I find it difficult to trust a company that has seen a significant redundant effort at organizing their business, including several TM applications which were abandoned and/or duplicated multiple times.

For me, the word "specious" comes to mind.

Personally, I would just go to Walmart and pick out any popular name brand of your choice, Triax (like Lucas oil) is a bit of a experiment could be a good oil, just use your instincts or contact Pablo on this site and use Amsoil.

Dear Forum,

Can someone (of course in your opinion) tell me if the 2 Triax 0W-20 oils in the attached document are identical but one may just have a slightly different (or a newer) label? I've included a picture of the containers and Product Data Sheet . The reason is that both are from Triax, each label has differences, but similarities, and both are 0W-20. I've tried contacting Triax, but have had no luck.

Thanks in advance.
I tried their 0W-20 about 6 years ago in a Nissan 5.6L. The engine was noticeably louder. I emptied it within a few days.

Also my wife’s Volvo XC-40 requires an oil having specification VCC-RBSO-2AE. Not many 0W-20 oils have this listed except a European made (or similar) oil. Some automotive techs I’ve talked to say it’s fine using Castrol Edge 0W-20, but I’m reluctant b/c it doesn’t list VCC-RBSO-2AE on the container.
In fairness, this product does not state that it meets the Volvo specification.

It simply lists that Volvo specification under “additional applications”.

Which is not at all the same of meeting the specification.

This company has a history of claiming things that are later proven to be untrue. I wouldn’t put that crap in my Volvo.

Here is one option for your Volvo:

If you look at the back of the euro oil pictured, Triax is claiming to meet a large number of approvals from European manufacturers. No other company seems to be able to do this, and, in fact, it is a bit of a challenge for owners to know that their oil meets the VW508, or the BMW LL17FE+ standard. Other threads have pointed out that this company has played fast and loose with certification/approval claims. They seem to be silent when they are being lambasted on BITOG. Other threads clearly show the oil to be middling. There is not a chance in H++++ I would buy or use their product, and I think that opinion comes from being informed.

As others have stated, their "suitable fors" are contradictory. About 6 or 7 years ago I was shopping MB229.5x oils and ran across Triax data sheets. They had a 0W or 5W-30 that was listed as A3/B4, C3, and an HTHS of 3.2 mPa. Really! I passed and I think we had a thread going that I pointed this out.

The responses are cool. I take from them that unless this Triax 0W-20 is all I can find (which appears highly unlikely), use something else.
Another oil that covers Volvo VCC RBS0-2AE.

Castrol EDGE Euro Car 0W-20 M (black bottle).
