Dear Forum,

Can someone (of course in your opinion) tell me if the 2 Triax 0W-20 oils in the attached document are identical but one may just have a slightly different (or a newer) label? I've included a picture of the containers and Product Data Sheet . The reason is that both are from Triax, each label has differences, but similarities, and both are 0W-20. I've tried contacting Triax, but have had no luck.

Thanks in advance.

1) no such attachments are seen in your post. If you tried to attach PDFs, our platform does not allow them due to security risks inherent with the file form.
2) Triax products have a very limited appeal here, because many of their claims are unsubstantiated and/or contradictory.
3) Caveat Emptor

Ok. I’ll try again submitting the online form on the website and just wait and see. It looks like I can attach pictures. I’ll try that too.

Also my wife’s Volvo XC-40 requires an oil having specification VCC-RBSO-2AE. Not many 0W-20 oils have this listed except a European made (or similar) oil. Some automotive techs I’ve talked to say it’s fine using Castrol Edge 0W-20, but I’m reluctant b/c it doesn’t list VCC-RBSO-2AE on the container.

Shell base stock is sketchy?
Yes, they're a bit liberal on their claims. I get it, that turns people off.
I'm an actual user & have had no Ill consequence, contrary to the "Boogeyman" theories floating around here.

OP post up the links or images. Most likely your best source is Triax. Still curious about your communication you've stated which has not been my experience.

I once heard Triax's company address is some residence in California no thank you. I would use Super Tech or Kirkland Full Synthetic if it's cost that drives you otherwise there is absolutely nothing appealing about Triax.

Didn't Ford Boss on YT do an analysis of their full synthetic, the high mileage and the SRT? I believe he said the synthetic and High Mileage were basic at best, but the SRT had some pretty good numbers. I believe the Euro is based off the SRT. It's probably fine, but for what you pay you could probably get something off the shelf at Walmart that meets or exceeds.

Really appreciate the responses. Cost isn’t driving any purchase for any 0W-20 synthetic oil for her car. I do most of our vehicle maintenance and do my best to use recommended lubricants. But for this Volvo, finding an oil with a label meeting the VCC-RBSO-2AE has been difficult locally. I found this Triax via Amazon but ordering oils, filters etc online via Amazon is not preferred.

This oil is NOT approved for VCC-RBS0-2AE, it's simply "recommended for".

They've been listing their oil on Walmart website as well if that is any different for you.

The Volvo spec is VCC-RBS0(zero)-2AE, not VCC-RBSO(letter "O")-2AE.

From what I've read above, you need ACEA C5 oil.
In this case Mobil 1 ESP x2 0W-20 will serve you well and is about $27 for 5 quarts at Walmart.

Valvoline Euro 0W-20 also covers ACEA C5 and Volvo VCC-RBS0-2AE.

All those oils you can find online on eBay, Amazon, and some also on Walmart website.

C5 MID-SAPS OILS

C5 oils are similar to C2 and C3 oils. The only difference is that they have a lower HT/HS viscosity of 2.6-2.9 cP.

A bit liberal? Try deceptive.

The force is strong with this one.
