I can't stand it anymore. Where ever I go, people stand around or walk like in a trance, while on the phone. They pay no attention to what they're doing, where they are walking, or in whose way they are. Going to the supermarket has become a real hassle. Watching a movie without being blinded by ultra-bright glowing cell phone displays is impossible. I want those phones categorically banned from inside businesses (exception: incoming emergency calls for doctors, and, of course, law enforcement).

Shoot, they dress in t-shirts & shorts and fall out of $60,000 cars ("My, wasn't it generous your employer allowed you to use his car to pick up more cleaning supplies"), are ignorant, illiterate, easily swayed (and these are the college graduates), greedy, selfish and petulant.

Their spoiled dogs make better company.

At least the uncivil phone-to-ear tells me whom I need never pay the least attention.

Sometimes, when an especially tenacious phone talker blocks my way in the supermarket, I start talking really loud to my imaginary buddy while reaching for the bread around my enemy. When hor**** (he or she or it) gives me a dirty look, I rap my finger a couple times on my right ear, stick another finger in my left ear and complain loudly about "those people." Then hor**** thinks I have a really tiny phone.

i love it though, gives me something to point and laugh at. You can't count how many people you see on LA freeways going 48mph in the middle lane tapping their brakes and chatting on a cell phone, no one in front of them for 4 zip codes but they tap that brake.

Today I saw a guy standing outside a street café. He was juggling a cigarette, a cup of espresso and his phone all at the same time.

LOL, great thread and all too true.. I might use some of the techniques of talking loud to imaginary friends next time I get annoyed by cellphone users.

I always use a handsfree, and not that I dont use it in the store, but I talk as quiet as possible, have both hands available to push my cart, and for certain dont talk about my junk on the phone with my girlfriend

Without meaning to be sexist: I am amazed (and-yes annoyed) by the percentage of women/girls from say 15 to 30 that seem to be permantly attached to a cell. They talk in a car, in the grocery, walking down the street. I sometimes wonder if they are discussing latest quantum theory.

And its getting worse. The family next door has 3 girls, ages 10, 16, and 20. Each has their own cell phone. I don't recall ever seeing any of them not talking on a cell.

"You're grounded" has been replaced by "Surrender your phone now." "NooooOOOOOOOO!!!"

Maybe I missed it in my owners manual. Do they say start engine, put in drive, pick up cell phone?

Anybody familiar with 280 south of Birmingham, AL? I was once horrified to watch a lady pick up her cell phone before pulling on to it.

The worst are cellphone talkers with those bluetooth earpieces. If you don't immediately see the earpiece, it is impossible to tell whether the person walking alone, talking loudly to him/herself, is on a phone or simply insane.

It is mainly a female thing. Guys, typically, don't have nearly that much senseless chatter to exchange with each other. It's not exclusive ..but heavily biased to females.

My favorite feature is the animated jestures while they're behind the wheel. Wide open mouth ..laughing ..head nodding as though to say, "YES!! YES!! Page ACTAULLY did THAT in mixed company!!!" (plug in HEE-HAW!! HEE-HAW!! for the YES-YES).

My wife does receive calls when behind the wheel ..but I haven't seen her initiate too many. She too doesn't have much time to "shoot the breeze".

Now I can rationalize or intellectualize a sales person or a service technician using one of these things while driving. For the Nextel types ..it's typically no different then a CB or other 2 way radio. That is, they truly have a purpose for this activity in terms of productivity.

..but this cackle bird virtual hen house coffee club thing is just a little over the top, imo.

I've seen people pulling out of their neigborhoods (so they just left home) and they're already on the phone.

The worst are the ones who yak in the bathroom...Can I take a **** in peace, please?

I'll agree with all of you - it is amazing how Cell phones are taking over certain people. I think the worst thing I've seen is a guy/girl at a nice restaurant and the girl is ON THE PHONE. My friend and I counted 10 minutes where she was on the phone. If that isn't rude... what is?

Cell phones should be illegal on the freeway/when driving. (Except for law enforcement, doctors, etc...). I bet the accident rate caused by cell phones is a lot higher than people think.

It all comes down to how much you respect other people. If you respect others you won't be yapping loudly on your cell phone in a crowded place or when not appropriate.

I drive a manual (stick shift) - I cannot talk on the phone while driving. But seriously - I'd rather enjoy driving in peace than talk to someone - it CAN wait till I get home. Also, when I'm out and about enjoying or doing something - the last thing I want to do is talk to someone. My cell phone is on silent 99% of the time. If joewhoever really wanted to talk to me, he/she can leave a voicemail.

I'm one of those BlueTooth guys. I'll chat with Oilbabe while I'm in Wal*Mart and it's sometimes funny when folks think I'm talking to them when I'm talking to her.

Personally, I see it as a great way to drop a pickup line on a fine lady in the market. If it bombs, then just point your finger to your headseat and tell her you was talking to your girlfriend.

And you married guys SHOULDN'T be picking up other ladies and no-one should be picking up married ladies.

I don't get to see my daughter enough now due to a couple of cheaters, so don't even go there with me right now!

Sorry, rant over. I'm enjoying my permanent kitchen pass, but I really don't want to know about any cheating going on, it really disgusts me.
