I am using 3600 filters in my Saturn SL, an oversized version of recommended 3614. I had two filters, SuperTech from Walmart and Purolator. I used them both in a past. I can see some sort of device in Purolator at the bottom, some sort of valve, bypass or ADB I do not know. The SuperTech does not have it inside. But, in SuperTech filter no air can come through it unless a reasonable pressure applied where oil comes in, while on Purolator I can blow air freely both ways through the filter. Can you explain this difference?

They both should have bypass valves and ADBVs they are just different designs. If you have a newer E-core ST then the bypass valve is built into the ADBV at the front of the filter.

If you look closely at the supertech at the bottom..you will see some tiny holes. There is a "clicker" at the bottom that opens and shuts the bypass holes.

If I am correct, the ST3600 = Motorcraft FL400S. The Motorcraft is a very well made filter with a silicon ADBV that sells for $2.77 at Walmart.
