I mean, I am not so afraid of the synthetic leaking. I switched my Protege from conventional to Synthetic after a timing belt change at 180k and after sealing up the oil pan gasket that was leaking about a quart every 1k miles. Now, I am losing a quart of synthetic after about 5k miles which works out perfect as I am left with 1 quart after the fill up. Well that quart makes a great make up oil. Though on this oil change, it just dropped a half quart after about 1500 miles and hasn't lost a single drop since.
