SuperTech Synthetic Oils

Has anyone seen any discernable difference between the 3 SuperTech Full Synthetic oils? (SuperTech Full Synthetic, ST advanced formula Full Synthetic, ST High Mileage Full Synthetic)

I searched through the VOA/UOA and all 3 look very similar when looking at additive pkgs and even viscosity for same grade.

I need a good oil for ny portable generator for my RV and it calls for 5w30 or 10w30. I figured the ST high mileage Full Synthetic in 5w30 would be a good choice. Your thoughts???

don't have any regular use/OCI experience with them, and I know for a fact that a VOA will not tell you everything about that oil, so the similarities don't mean much.

but I love using the cheapest SuperTech motor oil (10w40 or 10w30) for engine break-in whenever I do a fresh rebuild, cost + I have some of the best end results, but that is my experience only, nothing more.

I am sure it is great oil, I just can't justify using it because of rebates or some deal I find on BITOG that always ends up being cheaper then even SuperTech.
 
Assuming this is a small engine RV generator I don't think the various add packs matter much for a small engine?

I agree with the 0W-40 choice if you need to start in very cold weather. Otherwise a 15w40 is also a good choice for a small generator. However if you do want to stay in spec honestly any brand 5w30 or 10w30 will be fine.
 
If it calls for 5w30, then 0w30 or 0w40 synthetic oil are better. Especially, if it runs occasionally. Any API SP oil is enough. 5w30 or 10w40 are cheaper to make, but not the best. Generally, any 0w-xx oil needs a better fully synthetic base oil for the same rating of miles.
 
Doesn’t the BITOG darling Loch Sprint have a recent tutorial out about Supertech being such a wonderful motor oil? Edit: of note, it wasn’t being compared to Pennzoil.
 
I'm not trying to talk you out of SuperTech, but I bought Delvac Extreme 10w30 for my lawn equipment and generator. It's $21.59/gallon in my area, so why not?

Yes. I just bought some yesterday at Walmart.

It’s a bit useless though since any oil that is ACEA A3/B4 will have a minimum HT/HS that effectively renders the grade irrelevant. You could make some sort of ancillary argument that the -40 grade might be higher but it’s a small difference that would have no real impact. Your generator doesn’t “need” a -30 grade. Besides it’s not about grade it’s about HT/HS.

And the winter rating would be dictated by your starting temperature. Are you the same “steve c” that was from Canada and had the user name StevieC?

Supertech is a good oil. I can't see paying close to a major though Especially since the base stock is mostly
re-refined base oil
