Supertech oil price increase in Ontario Walmart ($28.88 to $34.88 CAD)… no normal oil sales last couple of weeks at Canadian Tire either… increases are finally showing up 😬

The empty spot next to it, on rollback is Mobil Full Synthetic ($29.97). SuperTech conventional 18.9L pails were on rollback for $79.99 just last week.

Walmart USA sent me a refund of $2.44 this morning and then this afternoon they sent another for $0.10 for the Valvoline Restore and Protect Transmission fluid I bought on the weekend.
Kind of weird, but I won't argue with it.

That's what happens when one waits till last minute.
Buy oil in advance when it's on sale and either Mobil 1 or Pennzoil has a promo and ideally when Canadian Tire has a good deal with Triangle card.
As far as US vs Canadian prices, C$ is 0.7 US$.

I bought several jugs of Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 a few months ago during a Canadian Tire sale - c. C$43/4.73 l (5 US quarts) vs. the regular price of c. C$60.

This should get me through 2026.

Was at my local Wally this morning filter aisle was a disgrace and oil prices are whacked. SuperTech 10,000 mile 24.88 5 QT jug Valvoline Advance 23.97. not calling Supertech an inferior product but it's a no brainer to grab the VV.

You must be in the USA 🇺🇸 then, @DCDG .

The pails are now out of stock here 🇨🇦; that was quick!

Our Valvoline Advanced costs 26% more than ST.

18.9L pails are now up to $109 CDN.
That's C$5.77 per liter, or C$28.85 per 5 liters.

Personally, I tried both ST and Kirkland oils in my Kias and they didn't work too well, Sportage started burning oil right after, or even during having one of those on. 3 OCIs with VRP did the trick thou.

I've been using ST for years without incident. Sporadically, WM would have their oil on clearance, only to have them restock the same product; pails were as low as $27. They once had a sale on SN 5w-20/30 4L jugs for just $6 and I almost bought an entire pallet. At the current price it's not worth the hassle of buying the pail.

I noticed the Kirkland oil here in Canada went up as well. from 49.99 to 69.99 for two 4.73L jugs. That used to be the cheapest synthetic oil I could find in my area. Now Supertech is cheaper, because it's the same cost per jug, but ST is 5L instead of 4.73L.
