SuperTech /Tech2000 0W30 synthetic

Supertech 5w30 Synthetic Motor Oil, here in Texas, is made by Quaker State. I looked up the numbers on the bottle and it indicates that it was made by Quaker State not Safety-Klean or anybody else.

I think it's been close to a year now that Tech 2000 has been replaced with Supertech. If your store still has T2K, it's probably in slow-selling viscosities. But I'm fairly sure it's the same stuff inside, just different name.

As another note, if you look at the price tag on the shelf, they're labelled "SK 5W30" (at least they are here), which is a pretty clear sign it's made by Safety-Kleen.

In the US, Supertech is a Warren Performance Products, Shell or ExxonMobil product depending on location.


you also have to keep in mind that Tech2000/Supertech (canadian version) is made in Canada while SK is a US company with refinery in US.

I agree with MGregoir, I have understood the Walmart T2K syn oils to be Petro Canada, The T2K conventional oils are recycled to best of my knowledge too.

Funny, I asked the same question on Walmart oil around 8 years ago, this is how I found BITOG when trying to find out what was in T2K bottles, this is one topic that will never die.

To note bwco, if you live in Alberta or Sask you can get 0-30 or 0-40 XD3 in Polar Plus 5 litre jugs for very reasonable price per litre, close to your T2K pricing, if you live anywhere else then good luck.

Wal Mart was carrying two sets of API licences for T2000 and Supertech. They probably were able to get permission from the API to use one license for both sources, and save money.

Check the SuperTech syn and regular oil bottles at Walmart the other night when I was there to pickup a few things. NO markings I could see to distinguish where the stuff came from. This is at the Superstore in North London, ON. I did find 4.4L jugs of MaxLife non-syn for $9 which I thought was a great deal. Will have to post in the sales section

When I was in Walmart during lunch yesterday I went to look to see if there were any oil sales.

The new SuperTech 5pt bottles are different from their old 5qt bottles. The older bottles looked like the plastic containers that you bought Walmart brand coolant in. The new bottles look like everyone elses 5qt bottles with a diagonal "easy carry/easy pour" handle.

I guess they are standardizing their size for easy shipping and standardized shelf space.

I may go synthetic one day. But I have something like 20 quarts of other stuff laying around, so it will be awhile, or until a great sale, before I buy anymore.
