SUPERTECH OIL FILTER

Hi to all! I changed oil in a 2002 chev.sub. About 1000 miles ago and I use the supertech filter (1st time) from Wal-Mart, and valvoline oil 5w30 (1st time as well).
The burb has an indicator that tells when to change the oil and it came on the other day.
I only have 1000 miles on this oil and filter. I going to change it but wanted to see what you all think could have gone wrong.
The chev dealer always changed it before and I have always driven 4000 miles before an oil change. I read on this site that the synthetic oil filter would be better then the stock and I have use valvoline for years without a problem. So do I change back to ac oil filter or go to a different oil, or change and monitor?

Are you sure you reset the OLM?

I'm with Shaman here. I don't think you can put severe enough service on a vehicle with an OLM that would make it trigger legitimately within 1000 miles ...unless you were restricted to a single property or something and only moved 300 yards a day. That would have to be some real severe duty. Then again ..4000 miles is a REALLY short interval based on our reported OLM indications by various members. Most cringe at the thought of running it out to the max (min % wise).

Yup, I would have to agree with either a problem with the OLM or it was not reset at the last change unless you have some ultra severe service (which would have set it off with whatever the dealer was using also).

Thank you men.
I didn't know that the OLM needed to be reset.Has to be the problem cause the 1000 mi came from Highway miles. No short trips or 4 wheeling to cause severe duty to this vehicle.
