I was at Walmart picking up some boxed havoline synthetic 5w30 for the Ascent and to my surprise... Supertech (Warren) now has a 0w16!!

I moved the bottle around to compare the sound to 5w30 and it definitely sounded like a water jug lol.

No. It is API certified oil for engines designed for low viscosity oils. Your willful ignorance does not change FACT

I would love to see the magnetic drain plug after a 5K OCI of Supertech 0W16 on a 10 year-old Chevy 5.3. Someday, someone will make a mistake and buy it, by mistake.
I'd bet the metal scrappings would be quite thick going around that plug threads-area.

It happened to me once on my 99' 4.3 high-output Chevy S10. I was given 5w20 Quaker State synthetic and there was enough metal shavings @6K to cover my entire forefinger-face.

And that would somehow be the fault of the oil and not the user?

I edited my post and added more goodies.
So in answering your question, yes, my fault. I haven't used Quaker State since thou. Moving down only 1.5cst@100 should not have caused that much metal. I don't drive my vehicles hard. Rather-so I drive them lightly.

So anyone here deciding to gamble a-little and try the 0W16, think twice b/4 using it in a vehicle designed for thicker oil.

Can't wait to see a VOA. Plus, I wonder if any Group5 is used.
BTW.... that vehicle S-10 was donated two years ago. Badly rusted, but not dangerous yet. A hard-luck Nam' veteran was the recipient.

I've seen people putting ATF in engine too, there's only so much you can do to prevent these.

Exaaaaaactly! Putting 0w-16 into a GM V-8, which was never designed to run on 0w-16 would be total foolishness. A reflection (a bad one) upon the human involved, not the oil, nor the engine.
