It is believed to be a Grp III product. It is rumored to have a very good low wearing additive package, similar to Castrol GTX and Valvoline Durablend. Some say it is not good for long OCI. However, there are not enough UOA's to know if it can go for long drains. It is difficult to know too much about it, due to the lack of UOA's.

highlander, could you explain what you mean by complete changes at 25- k? Supertech has been discussed quite a bit recently. A search may bring up some useful information.

Does this mean you run the Mobil 1 oil for 25,000 miles and only change the oil filter (and add some top-up oil) every 3,000 miles?

I recently saw SuperTech synthetic oil at my local WalMart. Is it reputable and truly compatible with other synthetics? I've been using M-1 since it was introduced, and use it in everything including my garden tractor, mower, generator and pickup. Never a problem, except cost. I do complete changes at 25-k, with filter and replacement every 3-k. Enjoy long engine life and good mileage.

Sorry to be so long getting back. Yes, I change filter every 3,000 miles and add what the filter drops (usually 1/2 qt.). I've been doing this for years with M-1 (Ford ran a test when M-1 first came out, drove a Lincoln 100-K with no filter or oil change, and could find no engine wear of concern on tear-down). I've done this with cars and trucks, I drive about 20-k a year on mountain roads and my engines are clean and sweet running and last a long time. Our last trade-in, a '98 Buick with 170-k, never ran better than it did the day we traded it. My '03 Pontiac is over 95-k now and ticks over nicely, as the Brits say. I've also used this in cars I didn't buy until they were over 100-k. After the first change, when the engine would absorb about a quart before the first filter change, the engines always ran cooler, quieter, more efficiently (measuring mpg).
