Toyota didn't build this. This is TRD, an aftermarket product producer for us Toyota owners. If owners are willing to pay for it, the automaker, like any other business, has a right to sell the product. The 'other' aftermarket supercharger/turbocharger companies are NOT running out to supply every vehicle made every product that some owners want. Its a good move for Toyota and TRD(which usually seems to have low production runs). Try to buy some of the older TRD parts over the years---all sold out.
500hp!!! Still NOT enough for some!!!
There's a pickup truck in EVERY driveway on this street. NONE are found working or on a construction site around here. Maybe you need to open your mind to the market segment that Toyota is targetting. I think the Tundra has fit it perfectly as always, like the rest of their products. They do not need to be #1 in sales to produce a superior product AND make money doing it.
TRD is great since it can be installed by dealers without voiding warranty, which is the biggest aftermarket fear of the modding consumer. Toyota/Scion has a bunch of aftermarket dealer installed stuff; intakes, headers, exhausts, superchargers, rims, wings, stickers, shifters, shift knobs, skidplates, interior trim......... why not if its profitable to do so???????
Even when gasoline hits $10 a gallon, there will those that still mod away!!
